Alright guys. Several things to mention.

1. Jerrell Powe was at the meeting last night and that guy is a beast. I think he is one of the most promising prospects Ole Miss has signed in a long time. Maybe since Eli Manning. Coach O seems to think so also, as he said he was going to build his program around that young man.

2. Cedric Jones was at the meeting last night. He is at Jones Junior College. Defensive lineman who signed with USM out of high school but failed to qualify. I spoke with him last night (I played ball with him back a few years ago) and he said that signing with usm was a dumb mistake, and he wants to be a Rebel although he thinks he is going to have to walk on.

Ok, now for what you've been waiting for. Coach O arrived late at the meeting. He was in Meridian watching their freakishly good backfield during their spring practice. When he arrived everyone was eating, but the Wayne County cheerleaders welcomed him and Coach Luke witha big Hotty Totty. He came in and I swear he shook every hand in that building (probably 250 people there). He also took a ton of pics with the kids and signed autographs. He acted like he had all the time in the world. After a few presentations, he got up to speak. He took of his coat and loosened his tie and we did the now famous "offense/defense" drill. My wife (the biggiest girlie girl you have ever seen even did the drill...he has some sort of persuasive power that i gotta learn!). Afterwards, one of my favorite quotes. He said....You guys are rebels. Imagine being on the bus headed to campus on game day. Imagine hearing the bus running.....you can hear a pin drop on the bus. Now imagine getting off the bus and walkign through the grove with people cheering everywhere and the band playing. He said.....we walk through our beautiful stadium and into our locker room. You can hear a pin drop. Right before we go into the tunnel...only one sound can be heard.....the snap of the chin strap. When you hear that snap.....every rebel knows.....ITS WAR TIME.

WHOA. I was ready to get it on then. After all that, he talked about how much he appreciated the Ole Miss family giving him this chance, and how he wouldn't let nothing....and he means nothing stand in our way of winning a national championship. He said those four rings he's won.....it's int he past. The only ring he was gonna wear is the ring he is gonna win at ole miss. He then asked us if that was ok with us for him to do that...of course we roared in approval. He hit on depth and coaching and of course that he would not be out worked recruiting (we already knew that based on results so far this year). He said our program would be built around defense. That our defenders would be in the right place, and that they would always arrive to the ball in a very bad mood (again...whoa. i love that attitude).

I guess that's about it. He talked about the qb situation...Said in his mind it would come down to Lane and Spurlock, but that lane had a lot of catching up to do. He also said that Spurlock had improved his fundamentals phenominally.

Ok I'll shut up now. Get ready rebs....we are gonna win some football games with this man as our coach.

Here are some pics from another guy I'm gonna link to <a href='http://www.southmississippiatva.com/orgeron.htm' target='_blank'>Link</a>
