Did you watch the ASU game. Oregon blew them out in less them 2 quarters. Oregon had back ups in the game in the 2nd quarter. I don't think ASU is the top team right now.

Oregon probably has the best offense in the nation; they would've scored at will on all of the Sun Belt teams.

RE: Week 1 Standings- Rankings?
I have to agree that if ASU after getting embarrassed the way they did is the first team in the SBC then this conference is in trouble and I do not blame those teams that are leaving. Teams from the SBc play top 5 teams yearly and never get kicked in the face like that...as a ULM fan I know as we have played two national champs in the past 5 years during their national championship season.ASU compiled a bunch of points and yards against players who are 2nd team at best and all of sudden they are rated number 1. This conference is in some deep crap if the perception after last night is ASU is the top team in the league. I guess Savannah State is the tops in their league too.

When ASU hangs at least 50 on ULM you'll understand who we just played.
Oregon's freshman QB makes Cam Newton look like a piker.

Keep in mind Arkansas State is the 3rd most inexperienced defensive team in America. The bring back almost nothing from 2011. They are starting from scratch. They have a (seemingly) good D coordinator and some talent. As the year progresses they could be pretty good. How good? Who knows.

RE: Week 1 Standings- Rankings?
Oregon beat Nevada 69-20 last year and averaged 45 pts. per game. Don't kid yourselves, that offense is incredible and would have done that to anyone in the Sun Belt, CUSA, MAC, etc.
It is hard to rank the teams based on the disparity of week one opponents.

RE: Week 1 Standings- Rankings?
This is tough to rank. WKU and Louisiana played teams that could almost make up the Bottom 10 in FCS. You can't gauge much from that no matter what the score was. Arkansas State looked terrible on defense because they were playing Oregon, but also because they have an entirely new defensive chemistry, almost no one returns from 2011. That said, even with the competition, I don't think ASU's defense is as good as last years. Troy played a crap team that may be improved, who knows. We run the ball better this year, that's for sure. If we can get the passing game going we could be pretty good. FAU played a much worse team than MTSU did, and still almost lost. MTSU lost to McNeese but looked better than FAU. This early, and with all the FCS games, it's hard to have a defined ranking system. So here's my pairings:
1. WKU/UL/Troy
4. FIU/ASU
6. ULM/UNT
8. USA
9. MTSU
10. FAU

In '09, Tebow & Co. beat us 59-6, I believe that's correct, and we went 9-3 in the regular season. I like playing high-caliber competition at the start of a season because it sets the bar for conference play. This will hopefully raise the level of play in the entire conference and I look forward to the rest of the season.

I agree with this. It will get a little clearer after week two. The ULL/Troy & FAU/MTSU games will help to clear up both the top and the bottom of the conference. In another few weeks we should be able to separate the contenders from the pretenders.

Really suprised at the rankings do far, I would think most would've put USA last, but since the FAU and MTSU had horrible performences against FCS schools I guess it's understandable.
