Quite a reaction. Was said on another board:

"The O lost a star QB and the top two WRs, what did the D lose to justify giving up 30 to Texas State?"

By the way, congratulations TxSt. Good win, keep them coming.

Wow, Houston looks like they're in meltdown mode over this... 04-rock

Um, No!!!!!!!!!!!! it's much worse than just that haha

That is not half of the story. Big time GSU boosters were upset that our head coach "could not win the big games" and we were having APR problems with our football team and a few other things were going on and it all exploded during that second half meltdown against Texas State.

After that loss, you are correct, we fired our head coach. That is not the problem, the problem is who we hire. Brian VanGorder. He proceded to drag us through the worst season in school history going 3-8. It sent us into a tail spin that took 5 years to get out of when we hired Jeff Monken for the 2010 season and our first return to the playoffs since that disaster in San Marcos.

There once was a time that I thought we would never return to greatness but thanks to Monken we've been back for two years.

Don't care for the long drug out story.
Keeping it simple is a better way to look at it.

RE: Texas State 30, Houston 13
I like what the guy that voted for us had to say. It was reasonable for the first week of football and I like that he added...let them enjoy their moment.

While we may not end up being world beaters, I have more confidence in the season.

Some people are already giving us a run at the WAC championship.
1st - I think that's a bit of a stretch
2nd - we're not eligible anyway

However, if the team I saw Saturday night improves each week I can see us getting some serious attention and more wins than I expected just a week ago. We've served notice we're not going to be anyone's "easy game".

(course it could all go to hell in a handbasket just as quickly)
