I want to say let's go Jags but that hurts a little bit. So I just hope UTSA will lose.

Yes! It's their job to break the law for us!!!

One is on Pac-12 which maybe 10% has and the other on ESPN3 which not everyone has

Well, duh. Why would you break the law when you could see it legally???

USA turned the ball over 4 times, which led to 20 UTSA points... hats off to UTSA for capitalizing on them, but we can't expect to win many games with 4 turnovers. The first one, in the endzone which would have put USA up 14-0 to start the game was a huge one...

Just got back from the game. I am not really thrilled by CJ Bennett. Also, the play calling was inconsistent and we would not stick to the running game. Plus the DE and secondary played very soft. I am just frustrated. We played very sloppy. Hats off to UTSA.

Yeah, the camera view is from the pressbox side. Season ticket holders sit on the same side. The camera angle does the crowd present no justice. It was a legit 17k.

Ladd is big.

17k is not even half capacity. Attendance was only one of the disappointing things of the day.

Perhaps it will be cathartic to give my thoughts on the game.

UTSA played a good game. Their team looked much more disciplined than ours. I kept waiting for the heat to get to them and it didn't. And they have a kicker that is a legitimate super weapon.
That 51 yarder that won the game would have been good from 61. Maybe 71. It was that freaking far into the endzone stands.

USA cons:

Our QB play. He accounted for 3 TO's. Two fumbles and and pick. He looked hurried and confused all day despite pretty good protection from the OL. Don't let the two TD passes fool you. One was blown coverage and the other was because UTSA sold out to stop the run.

Our DC was outclassed by UTSA's OC. I don't know if Coker calls his own plays or not. But Clark was not adjusting well. It was nearly halftime before he started splitting the DE's out wider to protect the edge. UTSA's speed was killing us on edge running plays and it took him almost a whole half to make an adjustment that high school coaches make on the second series.

Our tackling was bad.
And it wasn't just the rank and file.
Some of our best defenders apparently forgot how to wrap up during the offseason. I'm looking at you Jake.

USA pros:

We have another QB waiting in the wings. If CJB is never going to learn to protect the ball, then at least we have a quality option in our Virginia transfer. I hope Metheney is taking snaps next Saturday, because after last year and today, I think CJB may just not have what it takes mentally to compete at this level.

Our running game looked good. Baker picked up right where he left off and Houston is still the angriest runner I have ever seen.

The OL is going to be OK. They consistently gave the QB plenty of time today. It wasn't their fault that CJB has a panic attack every other play.

This is just my opinion, but I thought our new OC had a good game plan and called a good game. I sound like a broken record, but it isn't his fault that CJB could do nothing with the ball. Two beautiful skinny posts by Jereme Jones and TJ Glover went to waste because CJB couldn't hit them.

Our young TE is a monster. Hollinger.

TJ Glover, despite being responsible for one of the TO's on a PR, is back and made up for his boo boo. His explosiveness in the return game is going to help us out a lot.

Summary:
Hats off to UTSA. They played a better game, had a better plan, and did those little things right that make the difference in the game.

This loss sucks. But I ain't writing off the season just because we lost one of the few games anyone thought we had a chance of winning.
I saw a lot of good stuff today. And when we played well, we played really well.
We just didn't have the consistency that is needed for this level of ball.
And I hang that on the coaches. We looked unprepared way to often.

But the number one thing that must change for us to NOT have a disastrous season is the QB play has got to pick up. I appreciate HCJJ's loyalty to CJB. The kid has worked hard. But if they can't figure out what is wrong with him, they are going to have to go with someone else. No one person loses a game, but he sure made it feel like it.

Vent over.
Emotional state returning to normal.

I still think we beat Troy.
