I have a friend who has been a Hog season ticket holder for years who made his decision about attending non-conference games based on what the TV situation was. If it was not televised, PPV or Comcast Sports, he wasn't going because it wasn't an important game.

Radio show in Little Rock (not a sports station) was running a guess the score contest for prizes and at least third or more callers couldn't name the Hogs opponent.

When I was in Shreveport my co-workers couldn't keep straight which teams were in ULM's league, who was in La.Tech's league and who Tulane played.

Pelini: Wagner game will count toward bowl eligibility
By Marcus Nelson

Florida Atlantic coach Carl Pelini said Monday the Owls' 7-3 victory over Wagner will count toward the Owls' bowl eligibility.
Owl Access previously reported the victory would not count in terms of bowl eligibiliy due to an NCAA rule requiring Football Championship Subdivision teams to award 90 percent of the maximum number of scholarship of the 63 allowed at that level.

Wagner only has awarded around 40 athletic scholarships the last last few years, but Pelini said other financial aid pushes that number past the 56.7 Wagner would have to average in a rolling two-year period.

“They have a foundation set up to pay scholarships, so they are a 'Bowl-eligible' win,” Pelini said. “They have 69.26 kids on scholarships. Just 40 are funded by athletics and 20 essentially funded by the university.”

Here is the text of the NCAA rule...

18.7.2.2.1 Exception—Football Championship Subdivision Opponent.

[FBS] Each year, a Football Bowl Subdivision institution may count one victory against a Football Championship Subdivision opponent toward meeting the definition of a “deserving team,” provided the opponent has averaged 90 percent of the permissible maximum number of grants-in-aid per year in football during a rolling two-year period. (Adopted: 10/28/97 effective 8/1/98, Revised: 4/28/05, 12/15/06, 4/29/10 effective 8/1/10, 7/30/10)

LOL at the Sun Belt being "stuck" with the top overall program in the conference. We have the best overall program, the most conference wins in football, and second most since Troy joined. We may be down right now, but we won't stay down, we aren't UAB...

Remember though FAU was awful last year. They failed to win a single Sun Belt game and would have gone winless if they hadn't played a CUSA team.

MTSU likewise was awful. Playing FAU saved them from going winless in league play. They had already been saved from a winless season by playing a CUSA team.

Man, minus UH and UCF that cusa will be one weak sss conference..

Is Memphis still a CUSA team this year....I believe they lost to UTM Saturday.

They are still C-USA. The Big East is going to be worse next season then they have been over the last few years, which is pretty dang bad.

RE: What the heck?
Stuck with a team in a top 30 media market. C-USA, the Sun Belt, MAC, MWC, and Hot Mess East are all give or take on about the same playing field. A couple of respectable, good teams up top and then some programs that have all had past success but are currently stuck in an uphill climb.
The massive top to bottom comparisons would be too much for any board, but it's good fodder.
These leagues should ALL collaborate on geographic scheduling alliances for OOC games yearly.
