A look at current ooc schedules vs those of next year
The thread on the Sun Belt limiting body bag games on the other board had me wondering if it would affect the ACC at all. I did some looking at this year's ooc schedule and next year's for the ACC. I thought it might be interesting to put it in a thread here since we are going to 9 games next year.

This is the breakdown...

This year the ACC ooc has:
13 FCS avg 1.1
24 BCS avg 2 (includes BYU and ND)
11 non AQ avg .9 (includes Army and Memphis)

This is the breakdown of non AQ teams:

by current conf....by future conf
2...Ind....3
2...WAC
2....MAC....2
2....CUSA....3
3....Sun Belt....2

This is the ooc schedule for 14 ACC teams next year:
There are three teams left to schedule one game and one game too many scheduled for one team.

8 FCS avg .6
22 BCS avg 1.6 (Includes ND, BYU, Navy and all the other conf changes)
10 Non AQ avg .7

Non AQ schedule includes
1 Sun Belt
2 Army
3 CUSA
3 MAC
1 MWC

The BCS breakdown for each year if all teams are put into their future conferences is as follows:

2012 2013
PAC ....1 - 1
SEC....6 - 8
BE....8 - 6
Ind....4 - 2
B12...3 - 1
B10...2 - 4
ACC.......1

RE: A look at current ooc schedules vs those of next year
It looks as though the average BCS games per school is going down slightly less than what would be a proportional decrease going from 4 ooc to 3. So overall BCS opponents played will be going from 10 to 10.6. Granted this is the first year so the scheduling philosophies may change in the future. So far it has been scheduling of FCS opponents that has taken the hit. I think in the future the non-AQ games will end up being the ones dropped since they are more expensive to buy.

No surprises that we play the SEC and BE the most. Two of the four games against the B12 are against WVU.

RE: A look at current ooc schedules vs those of next year
From Pitt's perspective, we should be largely immune from the Sun Belt sabre rattling about guarantee games. Pitt has historically scheduled MAC and FCS schools for those body bag games. Awhile back Pitt was royally screwed over by UCF, which ultimately forced Pitt's hand and they had to schedule a 4 game home and home series with freaking Buffalo. Pitt has one Sun Belt school in OOC for 2014. That game is supposed to be a return game for them. Since Pitt has 5 schools on the schedule for OOC in 2014, I'm expecting them to cancel the FIU game and the Akron game. That should wipe the slate clean of any Sun Belt schools.
