The Big East General Board
Ok Cardinal brothers and sisters is still worth our time to even continue to visit The Big East General Board? The number of Card fans posting there is at an all time low. Most on the board are all hostile to louisville fans. Maybe will change once football starts, but I have a feeling that it will not. Any way your thoughts, if you ever even come back to this board. 04-cheers

I stopped posting there regularly months ago. I will still comment on a thread or two if the topic is something I am interested in. I never start a thread there.

RE: The Big East General Board
Louisville fans have dwindled to miniscule numbers on all these boards. It is a hostile environment right now. I visit daily because I look for information about the TV and bowl situation, which directly affects us for now. I hope to one day see a thread blasting Louisville for deserting the conference in the dead of the night Baltimore Colt style.

It's a bad situation for Louisville fans. The Big East really needs Louisville to strongly commit to the conference. Unfortunately, Louisville's best interests are served by leaving ASAP. A volitile mixture to say the least.

We have no real issues with USF, UC or the departing members...it is the C-USA schools and Husky-(which in reality is due to jeolousy of our athletic success).

I will still post on that board and I will root for the league but hopefully something "good" will come soon. I know many want the Big XII but I am now leaning towards the ACC. Less $$$$ but better fit for our programs and it would boost our academic profile.

I still feel most of the haters are the same 8 or 9 posters. I don't think they are going anywhere so I just roll on by them. I enjoy some of the Memphis posters as well as UC posters. We should see some of the loudmouths tone down as our Team puts them in their place as the season progresses. Right now the Big 12 doesn't seem to have any public interest in expansion so I'm not going to worry about it for now. Frankly I would like the ACC asa more fan friendly choice as far as driving distance is concerned. In a perfect world though I would love to see. UL,UC and Memphis in the same league.

Myself...for a fan/selfish reason would have loved that Pitt/Syracuse/WVU & TCU were staying/coming in and add a Temple, Memphis & Houston to get to 12.

Somewhat. At least the CUSA former schools in the BE were the Best ones. Only USM remains left behind with ones We had history with. I've never felt any history or connection with SMU,UCF. I have taken My Daughter to the UCF campus when She was looking at Universities however. Nice Campus.

You won't need to worry about them for much longer. I promise.

But, do your part too, guys. Curb the B-12 stuff (that is what the expansion board is for).

Unprovoked hate toward any fan base will be punished, however.

Well I know of another place if things can't be worked out here. If I sound desperate well it's probably because I am, but I digress.....I sure could use some good posters on my board. :(

I at least need some serious writers for the front page if anyone is interested.

I like Louisville posters and miss the interaction with some of you on the Big East board, Wilkie included! :)

I understand that you guys are in a weird place with conference realignment issues.

Good luck this football season.

Terry, Notre Dame needs to join the ACC or Big 12, if they let you stay independent in football. The Big East is dying. 04-cheers

RE: The Big East General Board
Wilkie, I think that those two conferences want ND to commit to six games a year for a partial membership.

That, I think, is too many games "straightjacketed" or tied into one conference. I am not sure that ND wants to tie down half their schedule to one conference like that.

Terry, I am not trying to be a butt hole but the day of being an independent are also most gone for all but:

Army
Air Force is in a conference for the present. Alask
Navy
Alaska
Hawaii

The service acadamies, we all understand why.
Alaska and Hawaii, due to their location.

BYU and Notre Dame are the acception for the time being.

RE: The Big East General Board
Why, Wilkie? I am not trying to be a one either but I like the fact that ND goes against the grain and is not a lemming by joining a football conference.

ND has a nice setup as a football independent. NBC will soon re-sign them for bigger $$.

ND has access to the playoffs as an independent.

ND will be part of the pool as the ACC opponent in the Orange Bowl.

I look for ND to be part of the pool for the Fiesta Bowl, as well.

Who really cares all that much about minor bowls?

I think the fact that ND brought 35,000 fans to Dublin, Ireland to play Navy will not be lost on the minor bowl committees.

The Big East is a good place for ND to play basketball, baseball, soccer, lacrosse, etc.

ND has a national hockey TV deal with NBC and will be moving to play hockey in the Hockey East Conference.

Why not just keep the status quo?

P.S. Idaho is also a football independent.

P.P.S. I would not be surprised if BYU stays independent.
