ESPN. The thing is, you guys should be used to that...we did a version of the same thing last year against several SBC teams. The only difference was that we didnt have the running game and had to rely on Aplin.

Our defense will be helped in the fact that it prepares for this offense every day in practice, what will beat us in the end is the typical size and speed of a PAC 12 school.

There was a stat at one point last year that we scored a large large percentage of our TD's in drives that were over in less then 2 minutes. Thats how every no huddle team operates. If they are forced into long time consuming drives, they are taken out of their element, and it makes it more difficult to run.

We're going to lose, and we're probably going to lose badly. This game has and remains all about seeing what a true no huddle looks like when it really works, so Malzahn can look at our offense and say "This is what I want us to be in the future, and see what it can do?"

I think the from a coaching standpoint a defense has to force three and out against this offense. If Arkansas State can jump ahead early and stop the run it should be fun to watch.

We have run our "jet" offense for many years when we have the right personnel. Having the right guys is key to real production. The bad thing about it though is that it puts you defense back on the field a lot of times without them getting much of a break. Have to have really good conditioning on both sides of the ball. Defensive statistics will probably suffer if you are successful with the hurry up offense, but no big deal if it does work.

I know earlier in camp FAU was running a play every 12 seconds which was faster than Oregons offense.

Who knows if they are able to keep that up, but I know this. FAU footbal will look NOTHING like it used to.

We run the opposite of the hurry up. Nothing can demoralize a defense worse than being on the field for 15 plays, 8m+ and giving up 7, only to do it all over again in 2-3 minutes.

I remember last year we had one drive last over 10 minutes, and I think only gave our opponent 6 or 7 possessions that game.

It all comes down to execution. When you get half as many possessions one week compared to every other game you've played that year, your margin for error becomes much less.

I can see our Oregon game setting a record for snaps in a game.
Malzahn has stated that he wants to be the fastest offense in the country.

i can appreciate that stat. it's not an indicator of whether you'll win or not but i like teams that commit to an offense.

last year western led the country in time of possession at 35:29 per game. got better as the year went on. 39:44 over the last 3 games and a staggering 43:34 in the last game of the season. that's holding the ball for nearly 3 out of 4 quarters for a game. you better have a very deep defense if we're executing.

what hurt us last year is our kicking game was so bad we'd control the clock and get in scoring position and then miss the kick. we had several close games that shouldn't have been close.

i tried to find the ga. southern stats and found where they were 5th in fcs but couldn't find the actual amount of time stat.

i love a high scoring offense but since willie installed the west coast here i've come to appreciate that style of ball. especially when you have a lead and just eat up 8-10 minutes of the 4th quarter and you know the other team desparately needs the ball back.

it keeps your dee rested as well and lets them pin their ears back when they do get in.

The problem at the FBS level is falling behind and not beig able to come back on a QBs arm. See Georgia Tech every year.

I can attest to the slow offense of GaSo. Think last year when we beat them, yeah I mentioned it, I had time in between their snaps to walk down, go to the restroom, get in a long line for a drink, and walk back into the stadium and not miss a snap.
