RE: Ugly Forecast for Isaac - USA/UTSA related
We're getting some rain here on the Boca campus. I'm on the 6th floor of the new apartments here and for the first time I can't see the ocean because of the heavy rain. FIU cancelled classes for tomorrow, and FAU just cancelled classes for Monday an hour ago. Looks like we dodged a bullet for the most part, but at the expense to our friends at USA, GSU, and Troy. USA, any way y'all can postpone the game until Saturday? I think that would work ONLY IF the storm doesn't do a number on Mobile (prayers that it won't). How's it looking for Troy and GSU for gametime?

For Troy/UAB, it depends on the Trajectory. If it goes through Miss, then we'll probably be ok, and hopefully not scorching hott! If it comes through PC/Troy it might not be gone by Sat afternoon.

Here at Miami they cancelled classes for Monday yesterday afternoon. Earlier today I couldn't see the lake beside my room from the rain and wind (I'm on the 2nd floor). Has been very breezy here. We seem to be doing okay down further south, but there are many small branches down. Power is still going though. Hopefully Troy / GSU don't have many issues!

However it should be noted - there's a tornado watch for the area until 5 PM. Tornadoes are possible. So we'll have to be on the watch for those.

RE: Ugly Forecast for Isaac - USA/UTSA related
Before I just now got back to my place on campus, I drove around to see what Isaac has done so far. I'm just going to copy & paste my post that I made on The Owls Nest just a moment ago.
About all of the banners on the outside of the stadium are either off or flapping in the wind. The only ones that aren't are the ones on the South side, with the "Shapiro Family" wirtten all over them. Some smaller trees on campus (parking lot between IVAS and Engineering West for the most part) have been uprooted. There's also many large palm tree branches on the roads. There was some flying debris by the new dorm construction site. And finally a good amount of flooding on and around campus.
We dodged a bullet for the most part down here. I hope everything is alright at FIU, and I'm hoping for the best for USA.

At the UM campus, there were small tree branches downed all over the place. That was about it. We didn't lose power, though I heard several areas in the Miami area did. It was extremely blustery (as would be expected with a tropical storm) but no trees fell in my immediate area.

Strange, we have trees down all over campus and in the areas around campus as well. Most small, but some very decent sized ones.

I think you guys got some of the heavier storms up in Boca and that area. It wasn't as bad here. I've walked around the campus a bit and I've yet to see one fallen tree. Even when I went on the Metro to the mall earlier today, I didn't see much in terms of damage. Sure - there were more small branches but that was about it.

I wish we had your luck. I was in pain after being pelted by rain last night. Also, all of the banners that were on the outside of the stadium are either ripped or dangling down. Not looking good for gameday on Friday.

Sorry, but at least we'll get our game in. Part of living in a Hurricane Zone.

I know, but if the new EXA, who is now making the schedules, would do it right I'd be working 7-3 instead of 8-5. She keeps giving me 9 hr shifts that kill me. I shut down after 8. Just can't do it any more.
It's monthly inventory day and the only time I would, normally, work on a Saturday. (Especially during foootball season.) Plus, I close Friday night. I'm not 20 anymore.
If she wasn't treating me like **** (I just finished 9 straight days) and kept my normal schedule I'd catch most of the game.

The rule is (supposed to be) if you work a weekend you don't close (dept heads). I closed Friday, then worked Sat/Sun and close again this Friday while opening Saturday. She's been there 3 weeks and none of us can stand her. This isn't helping.
