The athletic department is really dropping the ball by excluding CSN broadcasts. We need to launch Huskie Vision.

Aren't the CSN games on ESPN3.com or ESPNGP out of market?

But we have our home games on 670 isn't that great?...

ISU is doing the production of these games on their own.

IMO we should have 2 games on CSN per year. Getting a package deal (2 games per year thru 2016) could get us a better per game price.

I have been told that money is the issue (not IMG). If true then I think its worth it to raise ticket prices by $1 in order to have one more game on CSN.

I don't buy the money issue. Why was money not an issue a few short years ago when virtuallly ALL of our home games was on CSN? This was before we raked in all that cash playing games at SF and games at the big boys. Now, all of a sudden, we're crying poor? I'm getting tired of that alleged excuse. This all started when IMG came into the picture.
Production costs are way less at ISU

If I wasn't told it directly then I would agree with you. I however have no reason to not believe what the person told me...which is that money is THE reason.

According to USA today athletics did lose a little over 2mil in 2009. Maybe we are still making up for that on top of them not seeing the ROI.

But ISU can afford it? And we were able to afford it before all the SF and big boy games?

You may have been told this reason, but I don't buy it. It's a conscious decision, and I think IMG has a lot - if not everything - to do with it.

Big, big mistake on the part of Athletics administration.

Huskie Vision? We have Huskie All Access already (need it to be in HD).

ESPN at first claimed all but 4 of our games in the first round. We then put one on CSN. ESPN has since claimed the UT-Martin game. So now Huskie All Access only has the rights to 2 games (CMU and UMASS) and that is only if ESPN does not claim these games also.

My hope is that ESPN also claims these 2 games for ESPN3.com so that this leaves IMG nothing. Granted this will give athletics less income but it could push them to put more games on CSN (with IMG) so that IMG guarantees some revenue.

All games not on ESPN should be on CSN. CSN shows the university in a very positive light with excellent halftime interviews of Athletics and NIU personnel, and David Kaplan is continuously praising and promoting NIU throughout the game.

You could not buy better marketing. When you advertise and say you're the best, that's you saying it. But, when a TV station and its announcer say it, it carries a lot more weight. (Okay, so we're paying for the game, but the general public does not know that.)

If you get satellite and the expanded sports package, I believe you can get CSN Chicago. I have sports outlets from around the country with DirecTV.

Currently I have Time Warner cable with expanded sports and I have been thinking about shopping other providers. I think that over time internet and televison will continue to converge and eventually CSN type broadcasts will be available coast-to-coast.

You are seeing some of that with ESPN3 which despite everyone's complaints works pretty well and will only get better. The biggest problem with it is that you get less experienced announcers and perhaps fewer camera angles.
