Dec. 27 Military: NIU vs TSISB

Slim chance of it happening, but how cool would that be?

It would be awesome to play/beat the overrated Irish in a bowl game.

Sorry, but these projections are bullcrap. Any projection worth its weight in salt would have Toledo playing in the National Championship, or, at the very least, a BCS bowl.

Does the fact NIU is playing a military school in the regular season at all help in these matters, or is it completely irrelevant? (Feel free to suggest this is a stupid question).

Defeating Army would help to open this bowl for 2 at large teams.

This year the Military Bowl is Army's bowl destination if they get 6 wins.

The ACC teams would also need to do as bad as last year. If Miami (FL) does get a bowl ban this year and that will help as UNC is also not eligible.

Payout is $250k more..$1m vs $750k

The date is bad though and so is the location

Just holding out for New Orleans or wouldn't mind Mobile again.

BTW: No way tUND ever agrees to play NIU on any somewhat neutral site--- given their alums and wannabe fans are everywhere and many with deep pockets to travel as well..

Playing in a bowl vrs NIU would be regarded as a step down by TD Jesus and provide lasting legitimacy to NIU program in Chgoland.

While not totally out of the question, I'm thinking TSISB would have to be 7-5 for this to happen. At 8-4 or 9-3, they're going to a bigger bowl; at 10-2, they're quite possibly in a BCS bowl.

I don't agree that ND wouldn't play us under any circumstances, but their bowl options would have to be very limited for it to happen. The Military Bowl being in DC is an attractive location for a lower-tier bowl game.

At 10-2 there is no doubt they would be in a BCS game...even if they played 8 MAC teams.

I would travel to DC to see this game.

If this matchup were to happen (BIG if), we better have the best turnout of Huskie fans ever at a bowl game. Even with a good turnout, we'd still be outnumbered 10 to 1.

It is reassuring to learn that Fantasy Island really is still apparently out there somewhere and filling heads with sugar plums.
