That's a sweet tournament. UCONN should thank Nike for all the cash ($4.55M per year) they pay us per year. This is a good payback. That's sweet lineup of teams they assembled.
As for Cuse, yeah they will find out who is in charge in the ACC. Everything in the ACC will center around the Carolina 4.

Well played by Nike. Very well played.
How long before the other companies start their own tournaments for their brand?

Pretty cool idea, Adidas will probably follow suit with a tournament involving Cincinnati, Louisville, Baylor, Michigan (I think), etc

I'm surprised Memphis isn't in it.

They took two teams from eight conferences. They took Georgetown & UConn as the Big East teams.
Look at the Pac-12 teams they took. Not powerhouses. UCLA is Adidas. Same with Kansas from the Big 12. Why Arizona wasn't chosen? Don't know b/c they are Nike.
The article also admits that if a school switches conferences or shoe contracts, it could affect the list of participants. A school could change its mind on participating.

good luck portland lol.
under armor could try this, but it'd be a stretch and it wouldn't be 16 teams.
could be: auburn, boston college, maryland, northwestern, south carolina, south florida, temple, texas tech and utah (could subtract one for 8 or add mid majors to get more teams)
from wikipedia, no idea if any of those teams are changing soon

That makes sense. Guess there was nobody else in C-USA with a Nike contract worth dragging along. Sorry to whoever I offend, lol.
Haha, just kidding. I know it's a few years from now, and the BE already has 2 teams.

RE: Nike's 16-Team Mega Tournament
"There are discussions to bring a professor from each of the 16 schools for a think-tank educational session for the event, Hollis said, and the coaches and athletic directors want a tie-in with the Jimmy V Fund for cancer research, as well."
Can UNC (since they have been invited) bring one of the professor's who helps schedule those fake classes...all so that UNC players can stay eligible to play ball at UNC?
Now that would be a fun "think-tank" because information like that should definitely be shared.

Agree, I think UCLA, Kansas, IU, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Tennessee and NC State are also Adidas.
Why not this
Cincinnati, Louisville, Notre Dame (pick one)
UCLA
Kansas, Baylor (pick one)
IU, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Northwestern (pick one)
NC State (pick one)
Tennessee, Texas A & M, Miss State (pick one)
Saint Mary's
Harvard
There are some decent smaller schools plus solid programs like UMass and UTEP that could be used to fill the tournament.
