Cincy is hard because everyone knows they are decent enough to win but lack the name brand of Louisville (Louisville has been playing at a higher level longer than Cincy). Time will correct this, just keep winning. The Texas and Florida schools offer excellent opportunity to play in front of potential recruits, even if they weren't decent teams, they'd still schedule name teams for exposure's sake.

Rutgers (now, not under Schiano) and UConn have a good attitude about scheduling big names. They may have to schedule a game or two in the Meadowlands/Gillette every now and then, but the image of playing the big names will only help them.

I do agree that playing the AQ schools will get tougher. However, many fans are repulsed by SEC teams getting a pass (LSU and Alabama clearly earned their records), but until someone starts beating the SEC big boys, they will still be the best. Look for teams in the SEC noted for weak scheduling to improve their image.

Perception with you is dangerous. Rutgers isn't going to sale out to play other BCS at the expense of giving up home games. First under Schiano Rutgers scheduled for the future (home & home series between '12-'18) games against UCLA, Miami, Arkansas and Penn St. (before Sandusky). Since, Schiano's departure in January Rutgers has signed a home and home series with Kansas and are going to announce another BCS home and home series during the season to fill out dates in '15 and '16.

As for scheduling game at the Meadowlands is out of the question. The Army game at the Meadowlands was to allow Rutgers to be the first college game in the new stadium just like they were back in '76 in the old stadium. Deals like the one ND first tried to force on Rutgers were out of the question. Later ND tried the same thing on UConn and the politicians killed it. They know a hustle when they see one. I don't know the details of the UConn deal, but Rutgers deal was BS from the start. It was to be a 10 series with 6 at ND, 3 at the Meadowlands as home games for Rutgers and 1 on campus home game for Rutgers. The 3 games at the Meadowlands would be a home game for Rutgers in name only, but ND wanted to split the gate 50/50, the luxury boxes 60/40 in their favor and only 30K tickets to Rutgers with 50K to ND. The only way for Rutgers to get additional home games in the series was to increase the size of their stadium to over 50K and 2 of the Meadowlands game would be moved. Rutgers increase the size of their stadium from 42K to 54K and ND suddenly got cold feet. They came up with reason why the games should remain at the Meadowlands. Rutgers said thanks, but no thanks to the entire series.

Really, 4 BSC teams in a 7 year period, for Schiano, that is a lot. FYI, some schools play 3-4 BSC teams annually.

As for the ND deal, that was to open negotiations. Rutgers chose not to negotiate, well and good, they made their choice. However, Rutgers still needs to play big name teams. As for playing anyone in the Meadowlands, that is their choice. I see no harm in it, especially as it is in Rutger's back yard and many teams are playing neutral site games. If playing a neutral site game is so offensive, then by all means, don't do it, but please stay off your holy high horse pretending to be something your not.

Rutgers has had a few decent years and only one really good year. They are relatively a newcomer. Schiano changed the losing team to a winning team. I think Flood will continue the winning ways. But to pretend that Rutgers strikes fear in the hearts of Texas, Oklahoma, USC, ND, FSU, Alabama, LSU, etc. is a dangerous perception on your part. If Rutgers has an opportunity to play one of them and it happened to be in the Meadowlands and Rutgers turns it down, then Rutgers is foolish.

RE: Big East must get home & home contracts with BCS Teams
The ACC will avoid scheduling future games with the Big East, after they finish whatever current contracts they have lined up, imo. They are looking to distance themselves from the Big East to remain a part of the so-called "Big 5" club. So those games may be more difficult. Also...with conferences going to 9 conference games...the non-conference games will be harder to get. Especially with those teams that have existing non-conference annual rivalry games.

It'll be a challenge. With the distance between Big East schools...UCF and USF may be seeing more non-conference games against FAU and FIU, in the future to keep some of the travelling down. FSU, Miami in the ACC won't be scheduling either anytime soon and UF won't do any home/home series with anyone non-conference but FSU, anymore.

For Temple it’s not bad.

The home and home will continue this season with Maryland and will run thru 2014. Home and home with Army continues this season. And in 2013 a home and home begins with Notre Dame.

Penn State is the only school jerking around Temple. They play 3 straight years and then have 1 year off, and in the 3 game series its 2 at PSU and 1 at TU. I’m hoping that with the PSU scandal combined with the increased profile of Temple (if they can continue to improve as a program) it can offer some leverage to push PSU to a home and home format.

Moving forward I would love to see Pitt added as well as an annual home and home.

the question is

how many perennial top 20 bcs schools will usf and ucf be able to get home and home. this is not a flame...i cant think of one.

USF has a 1-1 with Florida State with the game being at USF this year. USF is also in the middle of a 6 game series with Miami. While these series won't be every year once the current ones end, they will be off and on series. I can see USF play FSU one year and Miami the next or something similar.

NBE should try to schedule the lower half of the BIG 12 and BIG 10. Not just because the NBE would win a lot of those games, but because those are the teams that would be more inclined to schedule NBE teams. I'm thinking maybe everyone should try and schedule only BCS type teams. That way if one of the 14 or so teams goes undefeated they would have a good shot getting a championship bid. FCS and Lower conference FBS schools do nothing except help you get bowl eligible. OK so i guess that is something.
