Pouring more $$ into education does nothing to raise achievement. That would require some sort of a merit pay approach, a distinct no-no to the union. Can't have good teachers or bad ones - they are all the same (in order to protect the slugs). Similar to Wisconsin, I bet if you looked at salaries in HP, you'd find some of these $100K gym teachers, too.

This is what unions get you. You could attend McCallie for only a little more.

At $20K/student, fire everybody and assign some grad student to each and every kid for 7 hours a day, 180 days a year.
