If the Big XII and PAC-12 pass on BYU, I wonder if BYU will consider going back to the MWC. Maybe that would get Boise back too.
Not anymore. Plus there is not TV money there at all. TCU, BYU, BSU, SDSU gone. The Big East is better and so is the money. What is there not to see.
Just so everyone understands---the Mountain West contract after the collapse of "The Mountain" Tv network now pays a total of 8 million per year to the conference (thats down from 12 million last year). So, each Mountain West team will receive a whopping $800,000 from the Mountain West TV contract. Worse yet, if I remember correctly, they are stuck with this albatross of a contract for 6 more years.
I suspect Boise will take thier olympic sports independent before they go back to the Mountain West. BYU is not coming back. SDSU is not going back. In short, nobody is returning to the Mountain West.
Yes it is down from 12 million to 8 million, but the games that used to be on the Mountain are now being sold and that adds to the 8 million. The MWC wouldn't have agreed to killing the Mtn without that, and it is a mischaracterization to say the MWC TV contract went down by 4 million. As for being stuck with the contract for 6 years that seems to be debatable. I don't know what the answer is, and don't think any other poster does either.
On your other take, I think you are right, and Boise St and SDSU are not coming back to the MWC. And I don't think BYU is joining the MW or the BE.

Yes--you are correct to point that out. I also think some other third tier rights are being returned to the schools, so those could maybe be sold to offset the lost income to a degree. Of course, those types of rights are often more valuable to some schools (say like SDSU or Hawaii) than others (like Nevada or Wyoming). So its may be a good move for some schools while it is a losing proposition for others.

Boise will be in the Big West or the WAC/Big Sky. I am thinking the Big West might wanna be careful with their words. They could get raided themselves. If The Big East is serious about going to 16, Then 3 more western teams and they can form another basketball conference or just buy the WAC out. Either or...Boise and BYU will NOT be going back to the MWC. Boise can't afford to move again right now.....

Boise State should just follow through with their original plan to rejoin the WAC, which the interim commissioner is still trying to save for basketball and other sports, rather than continuing to go through this non-stop teenage melodrama with the Big West.

That is what I think. If Air Force changers their mind and goes to the Big East (And they should), I do not see why the WAC / Big Sky would not take them as well.

If I was Boise I would offer to sponsor baseball in lieu of the million dollar entrance fee. And if I was the WAC, I would accept.
