Sorry for creating a new Penn State thread but this is about much more than just the sanctions and the Sandusky case itself...

I am staring to think that this cover up goes even higher than JoePa? I think Graham Spanier may have even been a serial child molester just like Jerry and I think they both know some very important people (more important than both of them) that might be as well? Mark Madden actually eluded to this in November. There is something much bigger than the cover up the press is reporting. There is no rational explanation for allowing Sandusky on campus for 14 years unless he knew something bigger. The 2nd Mile has still not been investigated and Corbett has not answered questions. There seems to be a new cover-up going on. It seems as though Penn State is trying to get this all wrapped up and behind them. I just feel that there is much more to the story. You have a missing DA, a child sexual abuse cover-up, and men in powerful positions lying about what they new and now Spanier... this is all bigger than just Penn State I think? They fired joe, bulldozed the statue site, and agreed to ncaa sanctions with hardly a question. This, with tens of thousnads of fans donating and screaming the opposite?

I remembered hearing about Sandusky pimping kids last fall. It'll be interesting to see if this story grows or how factual it is. I'm very curious if this has been happening at other campus's. I hate to say it, but my gut tells me, we've only seen the tip of the iceberg.

I just hope this stuff doesn't get buried and PSU succeeds in burying this in the ground with Joe. Don't get me wrong... Joe was involved in this but I think it is also much bigger than him too. If you read the first ariticle that I posted which is the MOST interesting, it talks about how Mark Madden was all over this story and the pimping kids part and suddenly he is all hushed up. Really makes me wonder who bullied Mark Madden into shutting his trap?

I feel ya. I remembered asking SportsByBrooks about this, and he heard something similar as well. Its hard to bully Mark Madden, so it had to been someone very powerful... Gov Corbett???

The FEDS are coming in regardless, due to the Clery Act Violation. I think the DOJ will weed out the entire coverup. I think people are going to be very shocked how deep this goes. This is the reason why I feel the NCAA jumped the gun here. Maybe they could compound sanctions down the road. Maybe the FEDS say the NCAA sanctions aren't enough an shuts down PSU football, or the entire Athletic Department, for X amount of years.

I think that if we are to find out the truth about how deep it goes then yes people are gonna be shocked. Not sure if us plain folk are gonna be privy to that information. Many are saying that the NCAA just wants this to go away and restore their enterprise of college football and these sanctions are meant to force PSU to become powerless so they can never be as all powerful with no checks and balances like it did with JoePa and that eventually these BOT members that were involved will resign over the coming months. The Commonwealth desperatly wants to move on from this as well.

I also wonder from Pit's perspective how this might have benefited us? Many are crying a foul (mostly big east teams on the outside looking in) are saying that ESPN is determining conference expansion. Maybe they are? If the Commonwealth, ESPN and the NCAA knew this was coming down the pike perhaps they collectively decided that they couldn’t not have viable college football in the region thus Pitt was pushed into the ACC? I don't know? I just never put anything past the man in charge.

I can see what you're saying regarding the NCAA. Not only football fans are outraged, the general public is outraged. I still feel that the NCAA really didn't have jurisdiction here, but with so much public pressure they had to do something.

Let's pray that there is nothing to this. Otherwise, I have no idea of the blowback we could expect from this. If there is any truth to a pedophilia ring within the state, it will likely cut across a whole swath of the state. It's quite possible that Pitt somehow finds itself in the wake of this mess if it's true. Of course, if there is something I hope it gets rooted out no matter who is affected, because this would be truly heinous to have this type of criminal syndicate operating in the state hurting kids. I think 2nd mile is dirty, but my suspicion is that it is dirty due to illegally funneling money to PSU football players. If there is anything to find, I hope that is the extent of what is going on. It would make me feel sick if people were peddling kids for sex in such an orchestrated manner.

I don't know if it's that I don't believe that there's any more to this (aka pedophilia ring) or that I just don't want to believe it. Either way, I don't. I remember Madden talking about this a while back but he had no evidence to back it up. He didn't mention anything that would even allow you to look into it and see if it's true.

I realize there may be Pitt fans posting on Rivals or Scout that believe this too, however, I tend to find many of the posters there unreliable and so completely biased against Penn State that they aren't doing their due diligence with a lot of what they say.

I have NOOOOO inside knowledge just to add as a disclaimer. However, Madden was pretty out in front with the original JS story months before it broke. That is why I give him some credance. Hope it aint true, but the more I read some of these articles, especially the more I read about the creepiness of Graham Spanier, the more I just don't know? I will also admit that I am a conspiracy theorist by nature, don't know why? I just always think the worst of people in power when sh*t like this hits the fan.
