If you want the latest and best coverage of USM recruiting and other USM athletic news, do yourself a favor and check out the USM Scout site. The young man running that site is turning circles around Mixon. His name is Drew White and he is doing a great job. He has scooped Mixon on every commitment and I find it suspicious that after he posts a commitment, Mixon follows soon after with the same commitment. Anyway, I am in no way connected with the Scout board, but after seeing the BGN board go south lately, I tried out the Scout site after a heads up by a friend and it is well worth it for those that are willing to pay for USM news.

Never have understood for paying for Rivals, Scout or 247. The same news will be free to the public usually in 12-24 hours. I find all three a waste of money.

The scout site (GoldenEaglePride.com) is miles ahead of BGN at this point. It's only been around a couple of years, and only really has a small core of steady posters at this point but word is spreading about what Drew is doing and I expect the site to grow alot soon.

Lanny has never had competition. He wasn't expecting Scout to get a serious USM site.

Drew has been doing a great job on recruiting, he just needs to add some staff to do articles and such.

Drew just added Zane Penton to do some writing for his site. Zane is interning for Fox Sports and also writes sports for the Student Printz.

so are you paying scout or do you have one of the freebies drew gave out?

I am paying. Was going to try it out for a month and after two weeks I was a believer. Drew is doing a great job and I came here to just help spread the word.

Indeed, as I believe that the publisher of the Rivals site is a frequent contributor to this board.

I have been on that board since before Drew got there and it is amazing what he has done in the couple of years he has been there.... He is a great guy and seems to have the respect of people in USM athletics because he always has great interviews with coaches and players

Also BGN is garbage.... Nothing but sunshine pumpers and guys that get butt hurt over anything not positive about USM

It's not just news and recruiting. It's practice coverage, coach & player interviews, facility updates, etc. There's all kinds of good stuff on the ECU site that goes way beyond getting a story before somebody else. It's even more worth it to folks that live far away. A lot of the guys that run those sites really bust their asses to bring quality coverage.

I pay for both. Lanny is my friend and is an Eagle through and through. Drew is doing a great job. Good value in both sites.

Scout really has been MUCH more up-to-date and faster getting news out than BGN. I don't pay for either one but I've noticed that USM-Scout has had more FREE articles and the FREE newsbreaks have come out a lot quicker than BGN.

Meh, pick one or the other, no need to start hurling insults if you don't like how one of them does business.

This thread is just an attempt to and nothing more.

Lanny at BGN has 2-3 guys working for him now, so we've seen more articles coming out and hopefully will be back to full speed soon. Got nothing against Drew or the Scout site and don't think multiple sites putting out Southern Miss news is anything to be sad about. Personally can't justify paying for both, so I'm staying on BGN.
