RE: Cincinnati and the Big 12
Cinci might find itself in the ACC at some point but they will never be in the B12; its not that they are undeserving, it's that they do not "add enough" to be considered... unless they are part of a package deal. Who knows? Maybe UL and Cinci could join FSU and GT, getting the B12 to 14 teams.

Old facilities(30k stadium) that can't be expanded. I don't like playing in rented out, half full NFL stadiums for big conference games. Feels small time.
No one in Ohio actually watches Cincy. OSU owns that state and that would never change even if Cincy won a MNC.
The BE is a damn near perfect fit for Cincy
Hey Luther, I agree. I like the Bearcats in the Big East and wish Cuse, WVU and Pitt would have stayed. Couple items here where you went off the track so to speak
-Our stadium is 35K and we have plans to expand to 47 K as soon as we get the dollars from WVU move and the new TV deal. I would guess in the next two years we should be working on an upgrade, on campus stadium. We have drawings, we have surveys of our fans, we know what we want and where we want to do it.
-many of our recruits love the fact the school and stadium are close to everything else on campus. It's a real plus where it's at right now.
-we have over 250K living alumni with over 105K in a 50 mile radius of the school. We have the fans and viewers and we travel. Ohio State owns the landscrape in Ohio, but that's changing too. To say no one in the state watches the Bearcats would be a bit of a stretch.

It would have the 2nd highest enrollment (after Texas). It has 10,000 more students than the current #2, Texas Tech.
It would be tied for the 2nd highest endowment ($1.04 billion, tied with TCU and behind Texas).
Academically, it would be tied for the 3nd best according to ARWU (after Texas and Iowa St, tied with Kansas). It would be 3rd best according to the Times Higher Education rankings (after Texas and Iowa St). It would be 2nd best according to the Leiden Rankings (after Texas). I could go on, but you get the point.
It would have the 2nd highest research budget (after Texas). It's over 50% higher than the current #2, Kansas.
It would be in the 3rd biggest TV market (after Dallas and Houston).
It would tied with Texas for being the most accessible school for visiting teams (only 15 minutes from a major international airport).
It would be in the 3rd biggest recruiting market for college football players rated 3 star or above on Rivals.com (after Dallas and Houston; Cinci is 10th in the country at this metric). The Cincy market produced more top recruits than the entire states of Iowa, Nebraska, West Virginia, and Colorado combined, and has nearly twice as many as all of Missouri.

The ACC would want ND, UConn, Rutgers, and Louisville before Cincinnati. That's no slam on Cincinnati. I think they would be #2 on the Big 12's list if BYU is out (I don't think FSU and Clemson are serious about the Big 12).
Having said that, realignment is over for quite a while. All of the schools now in the Big East will do well there.

I guess that depends what you call a "big time sports brand." Compared to Texas, I agree with you. Or if you're just talking football, I agree that our brand has lots of room to improve even with our recent success.
But if you're talking about a "sports brand," UC is clearly above the rest of the Big 12 (except maybe Oklahoma, Kansas and WVU). We have the Big O, Ed Jucker, and Bobby Huggins to thank for that (especially Huggins).
It also doesn't hurt that we had 5 Hall of Famers in the Big 3 sports, the greatest left-handed pitcher ever to play baseball (Sandy Koufax), one of the best volleyball programs in the country, and plenty of Olympic medals, including gold and silver medals in track from Bejing in 2008. That stuff might not matter much in branding, but it doesn't hurt.
You can respond and say that football is all that matters, but I'm just pointing out that our all-sports brand is pretty darn good.

I don't consider TCU a "big time" sports brand. I agree with the good Dr, Cincy should be considered, they have good upside but I understand the concerns too. In the end I don't think they will be included, which is unfortunate.

i still think they'll go after acc schools (which fills the void with west virginia a little too, just from the south side instead of through the midwest).
I would prefer they go to 16 with the bigeast's 2 programs and 4 acc programs:
southwest: texas, texas tech, baylor, tcu, kansas, kansas state, oklahoma, oklahoma state
east/midwest: florida state, georgia tech, clemson, virginia tech, west virginia, cincinnati, louisville, iowa state
You cannot be serious, down in athletics? Lets see since 2005(BE first year)we have a BCS win, 2 Final Four's,a women's bball NC game,a College World Series, 50 BE titles, new facilities for every sport, oh and also what would be the 3rd highest revenue in the B12. Yeah, what a down period, huh?

^^ I think he meant just football.
Sure you have lots of potential in football with your group of youngsters, but the fact remains that UofL has been below par the past 5 years as a whole. The outlook is good for UofL football from here on, but of course that is yet to be seen on the field.

Agree Clifton, thankfully the decade or so before that was so good. And I think very few BE fans are blind to the fact that we are coming back, and quickly. Not to mention the continous projects being announced for our football facilities, on top of already great ones.
