HBCU's bring in a lot of money for schools. When UofM play either Bethune-Cookman or FAMU, they tend to sell out as if they were playing one of the BIG's.

Let's take for example the Bayou classic which oversells the superdome every year.

Im just curious. Hey FIU and UTEP are predominantly spanish, so why not bring in an HBCU.

At least we know half-time will be rocking? 02-13-banana

This is an extension of the ASU stadium thread.

I don't think we should go past 14, and I would have rather stayed at 12, but I think that when and if we add another school or two we should continue to target schools with large student bodies. That rules out HBCU's, most of which have 10,000 or fewer students.

Honestly none are interested at this point. FAMU tried a few years back and their was talks by is in the late 90s of making the move but we never did. There are several reasons why HBCU have even entertained the idea.

1. Traditional rivalries that draw thousands of fans. With a move you kill those rivalry games and Classic games. Yes. You can create new ones but it wont be like a rivalry with another HBCU. HBCUs are different and if you have never attended or been to a game its hard to understand. With our big matchups its more than just the game; its the weekend if events, the bands, the pageantry and everything else that goes along with HBCU football. Mist non-HBCUs cant understand that.

2. If someone where to move they would bring along a cluster of others along to offset what i discussed in #1
3. Everyone is pretty much happy where they are. You may see some movement in the future from a few teams into The SWAC and MEAC but thats about it.

I've never been to a HBCU basketball game, but the CIAA tournament has been in Charlotte for the last 5 years or so. HBCU alums are very passionate about their schools. Charlotte gets something like 100,000 visitors during the CIAA tournament. That's crazy support for DII basketball.

That is not correct.

Yeah The CIAA is an event that HBCU alums travel to every year. I've gone the past few year and I have no affiliation with any of the CIAA schools, which is something that a lot of people do.
