Quote:A careful reading of official Major League Baseball Rule 6.08(b) suggests that in this situation, the batter would be considered "hit by pitch", and would be eligible to advance to first base.

Gotta take one for the team sometimes.

They would never play that game, GTS. The pitcher would throw that pitch in practice first, and that would be the end of that team...

nobody ever thinks about the fans. the smile on a child's face when a stranger hands them a foul ball they caught. father and son catching their first ball game together (which is the only reason why i'd want to be a father, provided it was a boy). teenagers first date. delinquents smoking cigarettes in the upper deck. the unannoying vendor, the one that has beer. the groundskeepers rolling out the tarp while you weather a rain delay in your cheap poncho. the guy who guards the good seats letting you sneak in to the lower deck. the price of a hot dog will never be the same.

Lush, that's gone the way of penny candy, 5¢ phone calls, 10¢ beers, 25¢ pack of cigarettes, and $3 fill ups at the full service pump...

All they need to do is replace 'em. My mother did, and she says it's nice to finally be able to walk without pain...

What a ****** write up. Nothing quantitative in it at all. Not much proof that there'd really be the big fireball.

The author does nothing to consider the nuclear reaction rates based on the cross sections of the elements, nor does he consider the nuclear binding energies (which drop dramatically with C and O.)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_bin...ergy_curve

xkcd has jumped the shark.
