Playoff, good or bad for UCF?
Personally, I think the parameters they set for this thing are horrible and have made it most likely impossible. Less and less access under the guise of a playoff is what it looks like. We've kind of got screwed here but it's better to be in the BE.

I think at worse it's a lateral move. We definitely have better access than in C-USA, but anybody who thought that anything was going to actually change needs to have their head examined.

At least an undefeated team should get into the playoff now. Or at least a much better chance. But for anyone in the BE, I believe it would take an undefeated season to have a shot.

That really hasn't changed for the Big East or anyone else. If a team doesn't run the table, they have almost no chance of making the 4-team playoff. Only a handful of schools can make it with 1 loss, and they usually need help.
For UCF, this is a positive development because the Big East will enhance the strength of schedule and enhance the opportunities of potentially playing in a major bowl. Compared to what we have or could have by staying in CUSA, it is far better.
For the Big East, well, it's kind of a slap in the face, but I don't think some of that isn't earned. The Big East was the ones sending 3 and 4 loss teams into the BCS - mostly because they kept beating on each other and there was no dominant team. In 2010, the BE was like 2-13 vs other AQ conferences during the regular season. Those sorts of results earned the Big East a back seat to the new BCS. None of that is UCF's fault.
The Big East has a lot of potential, but for the Big East to regain its spot at the table, some of that potential has to be realized.

I agree with Kruciff, at worst it is a lateral move. The present situation does not seem very different from where we were. There is, however, potential for things to get better. A playoff leads the way for an expanded playoff a la FCS. Also, lots of whining gave us the provision for non-AQs to be included in the BCS. After a few years of whining, I'm sure they will have to rework the selection committee's criteria. Right now it's all about winning. If 2 loss SEC teams keep winning, the system will stay the same. If the ACC, BE, and crap left over can get some wins, the system will have to adapt.

It's been really slow lately, anyone heard anything about how the team look or what we can expect from them?

I have to go with this accessment. It seems to help UCF than hurt them, even though it has little chance of any team outside the Big four conferences, getting into the playoff picture without an undefeated season, and some luck.

Its lateral for UCF, for the existing BE members its a downgrade as the AQ big bowl tie in has been removed.

Yeah, sucks to be them. Oh well, at least we're upgrading. They should be happy for us.
