Trip to Atmore
I'm heading down to LA Friday week after work for a test on Saturday given by the State of Alabama Personnel Department for a position in the Department of Game and Fish.

Does anybody have any suggestions as to where to stay? I'll be driving from Attalla Friday evening for the test that Saturday morning. Any help is appreciated.

I think the hotel by WindCreek Casino is pretty solid. I drive through Atmore almost every day; I can do some looking around for you if you'd like.

I was thinking about that hotel, the Hampton Inn in Atmore, and a few places in Brewton and Bay Minnette. The test is at the Jefferson Davis Community College admin building.

Just don't stop at the casino and expect to leave with cash.

RE: Trip to Atmore
In Atmore (off of I-65, exit 57) there's also the Muskogee Inn (a former Best Western that was the first hotel built/operated by the Poarch Creek Indians), though the Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn Express are way newer. Those latter two hotels and the Hardee's AND the Mickey D's have all been built within the last 2-3 years.

One thing the Muskogee Inn will have over them though: Wrangler Steakhouse. Good eats there if you want something other than fast food.

Wrangler Steakhouse? There was a creek family restaurant at that hotel. It was good country food.

Winner!

How far is the campus from the hotels? I haven't really found anything other than most of the hotels are right off the interstate.

05-bump

I just got my test results back. I ended up scoring in Band 1, the top tier that the department of conservation picks from. So now, I play another waiting game waiting on a call/letter from the state for an interview.

I hope they will hire. My Department has money and openings, but cannot hire.......

+1 to that, I was in the same boat for FAA ATC years ago then Clinton forgave all those that Reagan fired which few came back & now we're facing shortages of trained personnel
