RE: Email I sent to the BE
The problem is this...what "bcs bowl" will sign the Big East? There is a lot of parody in this league and anybody can win it any year....let's take the Orange bowl for example. Do you think they want a Big East champ vs the ACC champ? No they don't....they are already hedging their bet with the ACC that the winner most years will be Vatech/Gtech/Clemson/Miami/FSU....beyond that the Orange bowl is not going to be pleased. In other words, the ratings for Wake or Duke, or NCST will be horrid and if these schools win the acc any given year they orange bowl will be mad. They bet they are hedging is this that most years vatech/gtech/clemson/miami/fsu will win the conference and keep ratings respectable.
now throw in the Big East...anybody can win it. Can you imagine how poor ratings would be if the Orange one year was Duke vs SMU (not knocking either school) or UC vs Wake? It doesn't matter how good and how highly ranked these schools would be, they don't have national appeal.
Let me put it another way...ratings for 6-5 ohio state vs 6-5 Notre Dame would be higher than 11-1 Wake vs 11-1 Cincy
It's all about ratings...the ACC has a handful of teams that can deliver some decent ratings most years (vatech/getch/clemson/miami/fsu)....the Bigt East does not.
I don't see us getting a deal with any "bcs bowl"...
Our only hope is for Fed Ex to pump a ton of money into the Liberty, make it a "bcs bowl" and gurantee the winner of the Big East a spot eveyr year...and that isn't happening.

This is where an expanded league, weekley saturday games on NBC's over the air flagship, and exposure to new western markets--will all help the Big East over time. The added exposure and additional fanbases from the 14 team league (rather than being the only BCS conference with just 8 teams) should increase our bowl ratings. It does us no good right now, but this is one place where I see us improving significantly and rather quickly.

I can see it helping us over time but for the immediate future, if we don't have a "bcs bowl" for our winner, we are in the same boat as cusa, mwc, sunbelt, etc.
Basically the new system cut out the Big East...ie we just got butt raped again. It's just incredible.

No one likes to lose...but losing with no field general and no trumpeter is a disgrace. Hell, I'd take a freaking Marketing intern from the BE offices if they could get a camera in front of them.

Yeah. I posted somewhere else thats its absolutely amazing that the schools thought that right now--- during the renegotiation of the BCS and the subsequent race to land the plum bowls----at this watershed moment that would determine the leagues standing for the next 12 years----that this was the perfect time to sack the commissioner. Classic. Just Absolutley freaking classic.

It doesn't matter...Marinatto was too busy talking to Seton Hall and Providence about their upcoming basketball season to notice the happenings in college football
