Ah ok. It might've just been the end of the week for the elite camps. It looks like those were going on all last week.

I haven't been following the basketball recruiting. Who are our signees?

This is old (2015) news, but I'm glad to see this in Adams' committment article: "Rice is a strong school that will give me lots of job opportunities."

Looks like he's thinking long-term, rather than hoping for a quick exit to pro ball.

Slightly OT, but WKU landed a 5-star center today (nothing shady, just godfather and coach connections). Can't wait to see Drone body him down low. ***never mind he's a 2017 so Drone won't see him. Still will be interesting to see how much he dominates or plays down to the competition.

Small note but either Oliver Xu is off the team again or just wasn't added to the roster. Makes sense with three walkons already on the team.

Missed out on the top five of top 100 2017 wing Christian David. Was always a long shot but he was one of the guys the staff went up to see a bit ago. One of the guys that would've been a really impressive get. Top 5 is Butler, Creighton, Miami, Oregon, & Pittsburgh, so no real surprise that we missed out.

Would have been a great get but given what probably the injuries did to our record last year it was a long shot. Had we finished .500 it might have presented a better picture of Rice Rising to him.

Another one of our power offers is off the board in Eli Brooks to Michigan. Not really a surprise, we got in late on him and he was picking up steam.

3/4* Jordan Schakel is off the board to San Diego State. He's one of the guys who I would've liked to see us get, and who seemed to have some interest at the beginning of the process. Still, he clearly wanted to stay in California based off of his offers and quotes. On to the next guy.

Given that we are only looking at one (unless something happens) for next year is the message that we will be very selective in who we get?

This might sound twisted, but I feel like the reality is that we will actually sign two new players for next year. Obviously Drone will be gone for sure, but with the amount of transfers in CBB these days, it's probably a good bet that one of the twelve others will want to transfer for some reason.

Obviously looking at this with no inside information, but I would think that Schakel would've been one of the guys the staff would've liked to land. 6-5+ guard, ridiculous shooter which would've fit great on a team that plays quick in transition, and cares (or seemed to) about academics.
