If we are here-(along with UConn) then it should be like this when it is all said and done and Navy is on board:

BIG EAST
Division 1

Louisville
Cincinnati
South Florida
Rutgers
UConn
Temple
Central Florida

BIG EAST
Division 2

Boise State
San Diego State
BYU
Houston
SMU
Memphis
Navy

Thanks!

We have BYU on the schedule for the next 12 years, but I'd love for it to be a conference game instead, hopefully the new TV deal will help talk them into it.

As a Memphis fan, that division and two crossover games with UC and UL would be an awesome schedule for us to play. It'd be a tough one but one that would draw fans.

RE: Welcome to the Big East Broncos and Aztecs.
Why would Navy be in the West? Shouldn't Cinci or Louisville be in the West?

Aside from that, nice looking conference! 04-cheers

As much as I would like to see BYU join the group, they love Independence too much right now. It would have to be something radical to get them to join us.

I say we take another swing at AF - perhaps they've come to their senses now that AQ was denied. If not, Fresno State.

Glad we finally sent in notice! Don't know what the cloak and dagger stuff was about, but we are on our way!!!

Thanks for the Welcome! It's finally official! SDSU is ready for the move. SDSU fans are excited to be football members of the Big East. We are also looking forward to some great OOC games in hoops too. 04-cheers

Because back when east-west divisions were first being discussed, Navy told the BE they wanted to be in the western division. We assume it's due to SDSU and possibly AF being there, But if we go with non-geographical divisions to split up Florida, Texas, and the west coast, it won't matter.

Welcome to "BIG EAST" form of "politics"...it is also an open secret that as long as Louisville is in the BIG EAST they will have access to Florida for recruiting/exposure purposes.

We have been recruiting the hell out of that state-(outside of the Kragthorpe years) since the early 80's.

Or if BYU, Air Force and Fresno join, then add AF/Fresno to Division 2, and move either Memphis or Navy to Division 1.

Gotcha!

Too bad, though. Would have been great to play the Cardinals every year.

Still might happen, could see this as well:

Division 1
Louisville
Cincinnati
South Florida
SMU
Boise State
Navy
San Diego State

Division 2
UConn
Rutgers
Temple
Central Florida
Memphis
Houston
BYU

Both sides get exposure to Texas/Florida for recruiting and would make for some compelling TV matchups as well. It also keeps rivalries in tact-(Rutgers/UConn/Temple)...(UCF/Memphis) and you can do tie-in games with (USF/UCF)...(BYU/Boise State) etc, etc.

What about that killer UConn-SMU rivalry? They've only played once (a 31-30 SMU win in 1989), but it was a doozy. It takes weeks for the fans to prepare for that one. People move their wedding dates for this game. Definite ESPN Saturday night material!

They need to be in the same division.03-cloud9
