1. Step One, after hiring Weiberg go to Provo and do "whatever" it takes to get BYU on board. The league needs even more clout and maybe with Boise State/BYU it would help with the Fiesta Bowl.
2. Clean up the mess with ESPN...whether we want to admit it or not you should always keep your "friends close but your enemies closer". Best case scenario is to have a partnership with NBC/ESPN much like the Big XII has with ESPN/Fox.
3. Nail down Notre Dame and get them to continue to help with the bowls outside of the Top 6. Bowls they should really look @ is the Holiday Bowl and either boost up the payout of the Pinstripe Bowl and move the date to @ least NYE or try to very longshot of the Outback Bowl in Tampa. Very doubtful but offer BE #1/ND to that bowl in years that one or the other is in the Top 6 Bowls. Same with the Holiday Bowl.
After that lock down the now current BIG EAST Bowl in the Pinstripe, Orlando Bowl-(Formerly Champs Sports) and the likely Liberty Bowl.
4. Also, make it very clear to the other commishes that we deserve our fair share of the BCS Revenue Cut. Ok, we may be below the Former AQ league but our cut should be much higher then the other Former Non AQ's.
1. Agree - get Weiberg and the next step in the west is to go after and get BYU.
2. Keep ESPN in the negotiation. If they pay they play. If they don't and someone pays more and gives the BE more respect when they are on the air then move on. If the payouts are better splitting the contracts go with it - its really good business and a no brainer.
3. Use ND to negotiate with the both the Fiesta and Orange Bowls. if we have a Western Conference Champ they go to the Fiesta. In that case the Orange bowl takes the Eastern Division Champ, ND, or goes outside at large. If the Eastern Division Champ wins the Conference Championship Game they go to the Orange Bowl and the Fiesta takes the BE Western Division Champ, ND, or an at large team. Try for other big paying bowls with a ND option. Pinstripe is locked down with ND as an option if the B-12 does not have a team. Good enough on that one. Keep the Champs, and I believe the Liberty should now be a lock with Memphis in the conference.
4. Agree - Get a slick mouth piece at the BCS table and convince them we deserve the same share as the Big Boys especially with Boise in the league and especially if we nail BYU too and bring them into the conference.
Bowls:
1. Orange / Fiesta - Fl - Ar
2. Champs - FL
3. Belk - NC
4. Pinstripe - NY
5. Liberty - Tenn
6. Holiday / Hunger/ Poisettia - Cal
7. Need a bowl in Texas
8. Two of Tampa / Birmingham / Boise (Boise needs to triple their payout)
Try for higher paying bowls if you can get them from the SEC, B-10, B-12, and PAC -12 but it will be very unlikely if not impossible. At least take shots at the Gator and Sun Bowls again and keep a lower end bowl like the Military Bowl in DC in mind for a Navy / Rutgers/ Temple / UConn option with a 7 & 5 record. It is easy traveling for those schools.
