Director's Cup
The final standings are in. We scored in the following sports:

Baseball 78.00, Men Golf 72.75, Wrestling 47.00, Womens Gymnastics 39.00 and Womens Golf 28.50, TOTAL 263.25 (vs. 265 last year).

We finished 73rd (vs. 73rd last year). We were the 14th best out of the non-BCS schools (Princeton finished 39th with 539.00 points). Last year we were 11th (BYU finishing 37th with 579.55 points). Remarkably consistent.

This whole thing could be improved. First of all teams can count up to 10 womens and 10 mens teams. Most schools do not have that many so they have to count every team. The big schools can have what amounts to 8-12 mulligans as they drop out teams that aren't that good. Also a sport like men's gymnastics with 18 teams still counts for 100 points for the champion. Basketball with 340+ teams gets the same 100 points. In my view the maximum should drop based on the number of teams that participate. The big schools get an advantage due to the mulligans and due to the fact that they participate in a lot of sports that have few teams. If they would scale points down and use an average value for all your teams (averaging in the zeros) it would be a much more even competition.

Has there been a year in the last decade when we weren't #1 in the MAC?
