Poll for Big East fans
IF the following scenario happens which course of action do you take?
Boise & SDSU have to back out.
No other raids happen to take BE teams away in the short term.
What course of action do you take?

Don't think it will happen but I would add ECU and stay at 12

I agree that it is unlikely that BSU and SDSU back out but this is just a curiosity of mine.
I do it with every league. If the ACC lost two, who do they grab? If the Texoma 4 left, what does the Big 12 do? Can anything save the WAC? etc...

I like 12 and would prefer Southern Miss over ECU because Louisville, Cincinnati and Memphis go way back with them BUT, I wouldn't object to ECU and would understand if they were the preference by the rest of the conference. I also understand the merits for UMass, but they would be my third choice.

Never thought the first vote cast on the poll would be Tulane. NJRedman what is your reasoning for the green wave?

Of all those choices, I'd say add Southern Miss

First add USM. Then in 2016 add 4 from West: Boise, SDSU, BYU/Nevada/AFA, and Fresno/ECU, since by then I think we'll need them.

Add UMass:
1) Another Flagship institution.
2) Boston TV Market
3) Access to the Patriot Bowl in Gillette
4) Up and coming Hoops Team
5) It never hurts to have Bob Kraft on your side
6) Natural rival with UConn, if they stay and if they don't block. (see USF/UCF)
7) OOC strength of schedule could be very strong, right now scheduling "Any Team, Any Time, Any Place". Granted UMass might get waxed on the field but at least your opponents opponents strength of schedule will be strong which I believe is a big factor in many SOS calculations.
Yes I am completely biased! Yes the team will need to kick it into high gear on the field and off the field with marketing but USF & UConn showed that big strides can be made in a short amount of time especially with the backing of the conference. I'm happy to see someone who isn't a UMass fan put the option up there to vote!

I still say BYU is the last good school available. AFA would be next. No effin way I take any of the remaining CUSA teams.

Well looks like ECU and USM are dead even right now at 27.59% with each getting 8 votes.

I've always liked USM, long before CUSA.

I still go to 14. North and South divisions. I add ECU and S Miss to the south. Let the Northern teams selcet who they want most.
North
Louisville, Cinci, UConn, Rutgers, Navy, Temple, UMass (or whoever)
South
UCF, USF, Houston, SMU, S Miss, ECU, Memphis

That is the best conference out there if the western school bail out. Yes, it has C-USA flavor to it but it has the all the good C-USA schools on the cusp of big things that have over years been considered either major football or basketball schools. I also like how the north is very northeastern. I just wish the tv deal would be equal for that setup because I almost like it better than the western expansion. Basketball would take a hit but UMass and Southern Miss are solid programs to could rise up.

RE: Poll for Big East fans
Wait, are some of you actually considering adding ECU and USM as ALL-SPORTS MEMBERS?
That is possibly the worst idea ever. ECU basketball sucks so bad they should be in the Sun Belt and USM has only made the NCAA's a couple of times in the last 25 years, and never won there.

I haven't been paying attention lately, so maybe I'm missing something. I still want to add BYU, Air Force, and Fresno. It appears our only options are now east of the Mississippi River? If that's the case ... no thanks.

Its a hypothetical situation with the parameters set in the OP. The prefered situation is still Boise, SDSU, BYU and stop.

Ironically could say the same thing about Memphis' football program. The Big East has all it needs in basketball and then some.
