Old School Football
Has anyone found anything about the football team in the 30s? I have been looking over the net to find any info but I've only found this:

David vs. Goliath on the Gridiron Old Dominion’s most legendary moment occurs on Oct. 14,1932,when Tommy Scott’s Norfolk Division Braves football team, taking advantage of a case of mistaken identity, plays the mighty University of Miami Hurricanes. The Braves lose the hard-fought contest,6-2,a game that was meant to be played by parent institution William and Mary. Following a conference ruling that the two-year school can no longer play freshmen, coupled with a $10,000 debt, the football program hangs up its cleats in 1941. The Braves compile a 62-19-4 record over 11 years.

I plan on going over to my step-grandpas house here soon. I'll pick his brain and see if he remembers anything. He played for ODU's basketball team back when if you showed up to the gym you made the team.

6-2 score in football?? Wha? Talk about an offensive explosion! It's like the Greatest Show on Turf vs. Tom and his Brady Bunch.

ODNavy,

There is a really good book on this subject. "Football and Foreman Field: Norfolk Division - Old Dominion University." Written by two ODU professors, Peter C. Stewart, and Thomas R. Garrett, with a foreward by ESPN's Jay Harris (ODU '87.)
