BOISE HAS YET TO WITHDRAW
Boise State still hasn't formally withdrawn, decision to wait could cost millions
Six months after Boise State announced it would join the Big East in 2013, the Broncos not only still haven't officially withdrawn from the Mountain West, but remain in discussions with the MWC about staying in that league, industry sources told CBSSports.com.
Boise State is scheduled to play its final season in the Mountain West in 2012-13 and join the Big East as a football-only member in 2013. However, the Broncos haven't officially withdrawn from the Mountain West.
If they do so before July 1, their exit fee only consists of forfeiting their final year's worth of league revenue (about $2.5 million). However, if the Broncos wait to withdraw after July 1, it would cost even more -- potentially as much as $24 million.
That's because Mountain West by-laws indicate if a school leaves with less than one year's notice -- which would happen if Boise State waits to officially withdraw after July 1 -- the school must forfeit its final year of league revenue plus pay an additional $5 million or double its final year of league revenue, whichever amount is larger. In that scenario, Boise State would lose a minimum of $7.5 million.

RE: BOISE HAS YET TO WITHDRAW
So you are saying that CBS who owns MWC tv wants them to stay?? There is no reason for Boise to withdraw until the last day... Now maybe the MWC will give Boise 5 mil per year while cutting everyone else 500k per year so they will stay.

Boise in talks to stay in MWC
Boise State could be forced to make a quick choice between the two conferences because the Mountain West and CBS have agreed to restructure their television deal, CBSSports.com reported Friday, citing anonymous sources.
A new deal could mean millions more for Mountain West schools through the 2015-2016 school year and make the Mountain West the dominant non-BCS conference in the country.

UTEP
New Mexico
Pod 2:
Colorado State

Wyoming
Boise State
Pod 3:
Hawaii
San Diego State
San Jose State
Fresno State
Pod 4:

If a football championship game is desired, Pods 1 and 2 would be one division for football, Pods 3 and 4 would make the other division.
If the MW instead wishes to leverage the Hawaii exemption, there would be four divisions for scheduling purposes-play each team from your pod and 2 from each of the others. Hawaii plus 4-5 fellow conference members would be playing 13 games anyway.

Why doesn't the MWC make that concession to Boise State, BYU, or any other school that desires partial broadcast rights? It may cost the conference by having some potential revenue bypass the MWC offices, but having those schools as members would surely significantly increase the value of the MWC media package.

This is the only scenario i can see the MWC retaining BSU/BYU/SDSU.
