You don't invite anyone unless you know they will say yes. BYU doesn't fit that criteria. Nor does AFA.

Inviting anyone else doesn't solve BSU's problem of finding an all-sports conference. I don't know anything about it, but assume from a travel and competitive standpoint it would be a huge mistake.

I'm wondering how the BE is supposed to invite BYU when they've already invited them and been turned down?

This is where I would disagree with you... Inviting Fresno with conditions that it would help Boise get into the BW would have helped about 2 months ago. BW would wet themselves to have Fresno State in that League along with Hawaii and SDSU. I just dont think you understand BW west coast sports.

I think a lack of understanding about CA and an unwillingness to listen to the CA schools could end up costing the big east it's western division. We shall see.

The Big East is simply continuing its historical pattern of refusing to see the big picture. People in charge seem to be be saying "We have two Western schools, don't need anymore, and will only expand further for Air Force or BYU."

Boise State and San Diego State seem to be saying "If you give us Fresno State now, it will help Boise State get into the Big West for basketball and other sports, and then you can still try to reel in Air Force and BYU a bit later."

It will be a real shame if Boise State has to back out over a stupid issue like this and the Big East then boots San Diego State. That also means Air Force will never join and Navy may leave as well. The chain reaction is destructive.

I always hoped/expected that the Big East would listen intensely to the western schools (Boise, SDSU, SMU, Houston) about the situation out west.

The eastern schools (UConn, Rutgers, Cincinnati, Louisville, USF) know as much about the politics of western college sports as Boise & SDSU know about St. John's & Temple.

Agree...we need to sit down with the Western Schools and help them hammer out details instead of saying, "come for football, and figure out the olympic sports issues it will create on your own."

I really want this Western Division...it gives us a coast to coast conference and at least that would be unique to our brand.

Agree. Im afraid part of the problem is we are somewhat rudderless without a commissioner. Like him or not, I suspect there would be a much better chance of the Big East responding in some manner to this situatiion if Marinatto were still commissioner. Having no commissioner pretty much means we cant get organized enough to do a thing right now.
