RE: So now what
Boise State apparently failed to withdraw from the Mountain West today, which could mean that the Broncos are on the hook for additional exit fees to the Mountain West-or that Boise State will not be joining the Big East and WAC.

Chicago State to the WAC in what is essentially a WAC/Great West merger now looks to be a very real possibility:

Seattle/Idaho
CSUB/Utah Valley
NMSU/Denver
UTPA/Chicago State

NJIT will likely be gone once the CAA figures out what the ripple effect from their departures will entail. Some well-placed Division II upgrades (Dallas Baptist, California-San Diego, Missouri-Saint Louis, Grand Canyon) could at least make the travel somewhat bearable.

RE: So now what
Evidently the acting WAC commissioner was on Sirius XM radio channel 91 yesterday and said that talks were ongoing and hopefully details could be released within three or four weeks. Claimed it included Eastern FCS teams.

That's good to hear. I'd like to see these teams that want to move up get a shot.

Saw you moniker and I recently read an article that Wichita State was forming a club football team. Didn't you guys used to be FBS until you dropped football? Any chance you might go back to FBS school support wise?

I know he talked about some info being released, but I didn't recall him stating FCS teams from the East. Did he?

I wish I had an answer. And we don't know if club football will happen or not. It's a student trying to get it done and some within the U aren't very supportive of the idea. There are a lot of WSU fans that would love to have football back. The hope with the club team is that they could establish a few things and get things moving and then maybe move up to nonscholly Pioneer League stuff while we work on adding women's sports for a move to full scholarship football within the MVFC with hopes of moving to FBS some day.

We just got a new president this summer and I don't know what his thoughts are on it. I know he added some sports at his previous stop. Former president did a lot of great things in Wichita, but was never going to add football. Our current AD is the son of a WSU football legend so we're hopeful that he'd get behind it if the opportunity comes.

But to be honest, the economy in Wichita is still hurting big time. So trying to start up a football program again is a hard sell. It never should have been disbanded anyway. But we still have a 40K seat stadium sitting mostly unused. Track and HS football is pretty much all it hosts anymore. I have to walk by it every time I attend a basketball game and every single time I wonder what if...

But, if club football ever gets off the ground, there may be hope that within 10 years or so, that we could at least be part of the MVFC and move from there. I'd have to think that there's an FBS conference out there for us somewhere if we ever make the move. I believe we're a top 60 market, strong in men's basketball, baseball, track/cc, volleyball, men's and women's golf and women's tennis. 10k plus at every mens basketball game and top 10 in volleyball attendance.

Sounds like there may be a future for football in Wichita.

The Pioneer League would be your best bet after club football.

That would be your next logical move.

That would be a long way off but it doesn't hurt to have a long range plan & goal.04-cheers

So basically Rutgers fans just MAKE UP CRAP like people say it, WHEN THEY DON'T and post it on boards.
Sounds about right. Just what some people would expect.

True. But the point is the 20+ years ago, Falwell, Sr. did take legal action to challenge Flint and Hustler, all the way to the Supreme Court. Some university, likely LU with others, is eventually going to challenge the NCAA and their top heavy "rich get richer" philosophy, at the expense of the mid and low level FBS leagues (not being able to participate) by being fodder for the big boys. ESPN, the FBS elite conferences, the college presidents, the athletic directors, coaches, and school programs have all neatly, over many years, fed the bowls their paydays with a nice economic return back to the school and/or conference. It's a nice package for those in the hunt. Poor for those outside looking in, with little or no hope of ever having an opportunity to be a part. Some may say it is free enterprise at work. I say it's a money driven, business, where the schools, endorsed by the NCAA under their supposedly educational "what is best for the athlete" moniker, as their justification to produce the football factory for the NLF, mostly at the expense of mostly minority kids with very modest means. In an eerie way, this resembles what's going on in other sections of our society (health care/Wall Street banking/insurance) where their is a huge imbalance of the haves and the have nots. As soon as we remove "NCAA" from the dialogue, and have a name mentioned within the organization that is responsible for these decisions, the sooner change will happen. When is the last time you remember having a statement/PR release where someone was accountable for their statement or actions? It's most always the "NCAA". A nice way to get your way without taking responsibility.

RE: So now what
It would be hard for Liberty, or any FCS school for that matter, to make a case against the NCAA because the non-AQ schools vote to agree with the BCS schools that would limit the non-AQ from making the postseason. In return, the BCS schools give the non-AQ schools a big chunk of the money pie from the BCS games. It's hard to gain partners in a lawsuit when they are being bought away by the opposition.

No problem man. Glad to hear from someone from around the old stomping grounds. Hope you make it back occasionally. I worked years ago in NYC for a bank and kind of felt like I was living overseas at times.
Isn't Burnsville where out OC and assistant football coach at App State, Scott Satterfield's wife and family from? Not related to her are you? He will be our next head football coach almost sure.

Not sure where the Satterfield's are from but not related to them. Haven't been down there in a while. Most uncles & aunts have passed on. Have some contact with a cousin on Face Book. NYC is definitely hectic. Yet there are some people who love living in Manhattan. Had relatives visit years ago from NC. They were fine in New Jersey but after visiting relatives on Long Island they were ready to head home. Long Island traffic will do that to you.

Take care. Have a great season this year. 04-cheers
