What do your school pay to use the NFL stadiums you play in?
Is Pitt a Co-Tenant with the Steelers?

The Bengals charge UC a significant amount if they want to use PBS.

About $95,000 per game to the City of San Diego.

Thats nothing, we're paying 100K a game to play in the Garden. Now some may say "well thats only a 5K difference." except for the fact that a FB stadium holds twice as many if not more than a BBall/Hockey arena.

Im pretty sure Pitt & the Steelers are co tenants with Heinz Field, being built with both teams in mind. Don't know about the cost for other teams.

UH was once paying 300k a game to play in the Astrodome. Which all but bankrupted the AD, and why we finally moved back to campus.

That decision was one of the best ever made at UH.

Yea, but how much are the ticket costs in both venues? Probably much more expensive in the Garden.

Great move, no doubt.

If the Chargers move to LA, SDSU might be primed to take over the Qualcomm site and use it for faculty housing, research facilities, and a new, less cavernous football stadium.

The university has eyed the location in the past:

You have a heck of a deal using Qualcomm. Only 2 miles from campus and a trolley connects the 2? Not bad at all.

RE: Temple, Pitt, USF, SDSU
I can't find it in writing anywhere but if my memory is correct, Temple is paying the Phila Eagles about $200k per game. That comes out to just over $1 million per year. I believe that the Eagles also get the revenue from the concessions and parking. That probably averages around $30 per person. UMass is going to use the Patriots pro stadium at no charge. They will split the money from the concessions. Parking will be free. That's a much better deal. I believe that the Steelers and Pitt went in on the stadium and practice facilties together. Pitt probably doesn't pay any rent, perhaps a maintenance fee which would be easily covered from parking and concession fees. Pitt has the best deal by far ... I hate to say it but Temple has the worse deal. Maybe we breakeven when we draw 30k or more fans. We are in a 15 year lease and we will negotiate a new lease come 2017. The Eagles are certain to ask for twice as much. Something needs to give. I would like to see free parking before half time at Temple games.

damn, i think it shows how unique the Tigers' relationship with the Grizz is...

Memphis pays $10,000 per game to lease the FedExForum...

Grizz get money from Parking, Signage, and boxes...

assuming the Tigers average 10k per game...the Grizz pay the Tigers $800,000 dollars in organization guarantees every year.

the Grizz even admit "Where we will make the money for us is in the sale of the remaining suites and facilities sponsorships," he says. "It's not a slam dunk for us financially by any means, but it delivers more value."

the Tigers often outdraw the Grizz.

The Pitt, Steelers deal is convoluted and not clearly spelled out.
There is no 'rent', but steelers get most of the consessions for pitt games while pitt gets a % of the stadium luxury box sales, which are sold as a package steelers/pitt.
Both pay a 'rent' to use the UPMC training complex.

So in essence no rent charge to play there and you get all of the cash from ticket sales except some % of luxury sales?

Actually we get the first 150K ( so no down side risk) than Gillette gets everything until all operations expenses are paid. We get the use of 1 super suite and 4-6 regular suites, but have to pay for that staffing and food etc. After Gillette staffing is paid we split the remaining ticket sells. We get zero concession sales money. Ticket prices can NOT average under $25.50. We get the use of 2k VIP parking spots that are free with a $100 donation. Each club seat includes a $25 donation. We needed this to go FBS.

USFs contract is for 155k a year increasing by 10 k until 2016. They are supposedly working on new contract but haven't heard anything yet. RJS wanted a 15 year interact with no chance at USF moving out but don't think tat will happen. The current contract allows USF to move out with 2 years notice.

and the deal used to be better, they shuffled some stuff around because there was a big back lash because the Chargers had a ticket guarantee to prevent blackouts that was screwing the city, and SDSU caught some S from the mob with pitchforks. But, overall, it is a great deal for sdsu and was pointed out, SDSU has that site firmly in it's crosshairs (which is purported to be the largest parking lot west of the Miss. - it's a huge piece of land directly connected to campus by the trolly)

RE: Temple, Pitt, USF, SDSU
I don't know all of the gory details about the deal Pitt has to use Heinz, but as Tiger-Paul wrote the deal is likely significantly better than the other schools have that are mentioned in this thread. The biggest reason is that Pitt made it possible for Heinz field to be built because the school agreed to play its games there and give up Pitt Stadium. When the Steelers were trying to get Heinz Field built (which means tax increases that the voters had to agree to in an election), the voters overwhelmingly rejected the tax increase proposals for the stadium funding. So, in the end, Heinz was built only because Pitt agreed to be a co-tennant. Heinz was built with the co-tennant concept in mind (Pitt has its own locker rooms plus Pitt logos are spread out throughout Heinz). Granted, the Steelers dominate in the decisions for Heinz plus they have more of their logos in and around the field plus the color scheme, but Pitt in return has a good home for its FB team and doesn't have to pay annual upkeep on an aging stadium that was becoming a dump.

Pretty sure the same thing happened with Temple, and we several million for the Linc to get built. For some reason, we still get treated like crap.
