Exclamation Football Stadium
Great to see the addition of lights to Barker Lane Stadium. Does anybody know of a timetable for the completion of the stadium?

The lights are for game one this year. The rest of the stadium? Who knows? Three years ago?

Wonder to what extent the med school is delaying the football stadium completion?

Probably OC. My personal opinion is that its hard to run TWO or THREE capital campaigns at once at a school of C-U's size. Your pool of money donors is smaller than most places and its tough to get them to give to more than one project at a time.

RE: Football Stadium
That is a good point. The original completion timetable for both phases was before the start of the 2009 season. I am sure the economy tanking around 2008 was part reason why it was not completed on time. I am sure a lot of the money they were expecting didn't come in because of the economy. A completed stadium will add to what is already a pretty good gameday atmosphere in Buies Creek.

Rode by this weekend and saw that a portion of the two poles on the west side have been installed (flanking the "trailer in the sky").

If you would go ahead and make that large contribution we could get the field finished and remove that trailer in the sky.

IT'S going to be a great addition. One step closer to a legitimate football program.

RE: Football Stadium
Has anybody seen the updated stadium plans? I am sure there are some changes to the original plans from 5 years ago. One thing CU doesn't do a good job of on the athletic site is keeping fans updated on the progress of facility improvements. Most schools do weekly or monthly updates on the progress of construction projects. The baseball stadium is a good example. We know they are building a stadium but we don't know what it will look like or where they are at in the process. I just wish they would keep us updated.

They take those bleachers away every year. When they take down the trailer in the sky then we will know there is movement on the stadium.

RE: Football Stadium
Thank you camelsinthecreek. All I can say is it is about time and I would love to see a sketch of the plans. I wonder if it varies much if at all from the original plans.

RE: Football Stadium
Anyone hearing how big the new side will be? I remember the artist's rendering of the stadium from 5 years ago and the "home" side looked much bigger than the "visitors" side. Considering how attendance has been, I'm not sure if it needs to be quite that big. Then again, we haven't really had a big draw game other than the 1st game (Birm-Southern) and perhaps ODU. They'll have to consider future home games like Charlotte in '14.

Will there be parking next to the new side, or will we have to still park in "Y" (or further away) and walk around the field to get to our seats?

i heard an additional 5500 home seats. all metal bleacher type and no concrete or brick. think of a beefed up visitors side.

No concrete/brick? No chair-back seating?

I thought they raised all the money. Will that only buy bleachers?
