RE: 4 Star QB picks USF
The fact that he went and looked around, and came back... I take that as extremely positive. Looking at his offers, just Ole Miss is in a 'higher' conference, everything else BE level or below. I think he sticks. CSH needs this guy bad. 2013 was looking like a disaster at QB.

I think we will also land another 3 star QB we are looking at. He will have good competition for the job.

Too many programs exert alot pressure on these players to continue recruitment after a commitment is made. Anyways, it's a dumb rule that players have to wait so long to sign.
Yup...the first signing date the last week of August...b4 the start of most HS seasons and then the traditional signing date the 1st Wednesday of February.
UCF Coach O'Leary has been a huge proponent of an early signing period in football (other sports have them...why not football?).
His main reasoning is that while 90% or more of all verbals end up signing with those same teams in Feb...every team has to spend a ton of $$$ "after" they verbal in hoping to keep them by signing day.
By offering up an early signing period (good suggestion for early/mid August...before HS and College seasons start), teams won't have to spend $$$$ on needless "official" visits plus scores of phone calls/trips, etc...all trying to keep them committed through Feb.
Teams spend a lot of $$$$ on recruiting...but a good chunk of that $$$$ (and time) is trying to keep your verbals (some 7-12 months in advance) committed all the way through Feb...and those $$$$ (and time) would be saved if they had an early signing period in August.
Only "early" signing period (if you call it that) in football is for Dec JUCO or Dec HS Grads that can sign as soon as they graduate (mid-late Dec) for Jan enrollment...as more and more HS recruits are trying to graduate early...so that they get an extra spring of college football training in vs summer freshmen enrollees.

I prefer ESPN rankings, since they typically provide a write-up (though it doesn't always quite seem to match the stars) and they're not so profit motivated by Rivals in the sense that they don't seem to upgrade kids that sign with teams have a big Rivals site.

Kind of weird to think of ESPN as the less profit-motivated organization...

Good. Big East teams need to get good QBs. QBs and linemen are of utmost importance. Houston is set for the next three years with a RS soph who started as a true freshman in '10 when Keenum and his backup were lost for the season. He didn't play enough games to rate in the NCAA stats, but his average passing yards per game would have been third in the nation. So he should be pretty good.
UH is also very close to a commitment from this guy:

I think ESPN just buys th Scouts Inc. ratings. Not sure what the exact business relationship is, but ESPN doesn't rely on making fans of certain teams feel good about themselves to sell Insider subscriptions.

That's changing...as ESPN has added Blank-Nation team recruiting sites with mostly insider (subscription info) for:
Alabama
Florida
Georgia
LSU
Michigan
OU
Texas
USC
