Jobless Claims Up; CPI Down
Jobless Claims rise

Quote:Consumer prices fell in May by the most in more than three years as households paid less for gasoline, possibly giving the U.S. Federal Reserve more room to help an economy that is showing signs of weakening.

Another government report on Thursday pointed to persistent weakness in the labor market as the number of Americans filing new claims for unemployment benefits last week rose for the fifth time in six weeks.

I thought the O said the economy is doing fine? Oh, wait, the economy is getting worse. O says we need more stimulus. Oh, wait, the stimulus didn't work. Time to go O.

He didm't say the economy is fine. He said the private sector is doing fine(they are sitting on nearly 2 trillion dollars) but the economy isn't improving because those companies are sitting on those 2 trillion dollars.

Sitting on 2 trillion is the safe thing to do with his dumb ass in office

Throw the debacle of leftist Europe in there and it's brilliant

The stimulus didn't work? So we're still losing 800,000 jobs/month?

You can look at job losses (growth) pre-stimulus and post-stimulus, along with economic growth pre-stimulus and post-stimulus, and see that the stimulus had a significant positive impact on the economy. The cons consistently lie about that because they just can't bring themselves to accept the reality that President Obama made the right decision and that Keynesian economic theory worked as predicted.

Band aid on a fatal wound, it was obvious then and obvious now. Billions of which were wasted.

Sitting on 2 trillion is about getting Obama out of office so they can get big tax breaks, end of minimum wage and reduction/elimination of regulations so that they can rake in even more.

The economy was a train wreck that yielded passengers with broken necks. You idiot libs are bragging that the cuts on their knees stopped bleeding.

Was the goal of the stimulus strictly to generate enough ecnomic activity to give us short term gains that would be given back later? If so then yes, it worked like a charm.

But as those of us who understand economics said from the beginning, all the stimulus did was put a band aid on broken neck. That once the money was spent we'd be right back to the same problems. When the money that paid for those public sector jobs ran out those jobs would go away. The stimulus did nothing to fix the underlying issues our economy faced, and still does face.

You can see in the projections what the administration expected the stimulus to do. None of it has come to pass. It failed. Period.

The stimulus would have worked better if corps would not have sat on their money. That was the failue of the stimulus-assuming that businesses would hire as personal spending increased.

Meaningless chart b/c it shows no causation.

It's funny when max tries to prove something, b/c inevitably it's wrong.
