Coca-Cola to provide improved signage at LF
Whatever the heck that means? The agreement is valued at $1 million.

Quote:Mayor William Bell and officials with Birmingham Coca Cola Bottling Co. met at Crossplex this afternoon to highlight the company's partnership with the city. The deal includes exclusive serving rights, signage and upgrades to the entrance of the new complex. In addition, Coke will provide improved signage at Legion Field.

They do have plenty of green and gold possibilities.

For UAB football in the past, the Coke brand of Ginger Ale would be appropriate for upset stomachs due to bad football and hotdogs.

Q: When you think of the words "Football" & "Coca Cola", what image comes to mind?

A: Those damned bryant coke bottles from years gone by that every crimson clad, toothless, inbred hillbilly has on their mantle. Sometimes surrounded by candles and incense.

BTW- Every thrift store has a good dozen or so, for a quarter each. They make dandy targets for the shooting range.

No way in hell will they put up anything green, as in mello-yello, or anything else unless someone gets paid off. Like I said, more red and white being crammed down our throats.

You are smarter than that. Nobody said Coke was part of a Bama conspiracy. Coke however is part of a money conspiracy and red/white is their flagship brand. They aren't gonna use anything else. They know that despite our delusions and wishes that most people in their Alabama target market are Bama and Coca Cola fans. They have zero clue or care about the symbolism the red/white portrays or evokes in our minds as UAB fans. They only care about burning the red with white wave into every single persons mind that they possibly can which is why I HIGHLY doubt the scoreboard will have anything but that on it. If it turns out to have Sprite, I will be pleasantly surprised.

I don't care if it's red or white because the "improved signage" is for a city-owned building, not UAB's. They can do whatever they want to it. Plus, I like Coke...and seeing Coca-Cola ads will probably make me want one. Smart choice.

I didn't hear anybody whine that Milo's used red text in their ads when they sponsored UAB. -_-'

Coke can put up all the red and white signs they want as long as they pay their sponsorship dollars.

You seriously expect them to change their logo? Putting that brand image out there is what they're paying for.

I hate bammer as much as the next guy, but sheesh.

I don't really see how any of us are disagreeing. Coke pays the money. Their colors are red and white, like it or not. MB is the one tried to turn this into something about paranoia. Let's stop taking every post on every thread so damn literal and personal. If someone tried, it is possible they would use some other brand as the display on the board but highly unlikely. That is all I am saying. Nobody's whining about it, I don't think. Just commenting. Isn't that what this board is for?
