So a guy eating hummus in a PT Cruiser would be manlier than a guy eating raw fish in a Nissan Titan?

Perhaps the deciding factor was the magazine he was reading? What if he was reading Garden and Gun magazine? http://gardenandgun.com/ How can I judge?

Did I read it correctly that this list is from data collected in the first quarter of 2009? If so, that's over three years ago FWIW.

Yeah, cuz you want to make sure you're super accurate and up-to-date when you survey manliness.

With these criteria, I can certainly see why LA is at the bottom of the list. I think we could've placed there on sushi alone (which I happen to love, and so will admit to my un-manliness as long as I get to keep my lovely raw sea treats).

Depends on your brand of sushi. Yellowfin, Mahi, and Grouper iced on a tailgate while still at the docks or on the boat is a far more manly than going to a sushi bar in the city.

Lived in Orlando for a couple years and enjoyed the city, and I'm surprised it's so high on the list at #14. I would've thought more middle of the pack (say, in the #25-35 range). I would've guessed Orlando's and Buffalo's positions would've been swapped. Not that I've ever been to Buffalo... but I perceive it to be a place with plenty of sports bars, hunting/fishing equipment, BBQ joints, and Big 3 vehicles.

Unfortunately, the current state of country music is very girly.

I agree. Not that I even close to like country music but there was a point in time where country musicians talked about their time in prison, drunken nights, fighting, drug use, and womanizing. Now the men just care about being blue eyed and pretty.

I lived in Charlotte for years so that probably skewed them towards the top...my bad.
