Try again, the only thing Big East is missing is a tent pole program. NBE has potential than you think. On field results, change perception really fast, ala TCU and Boise.

The problem is, you have to get on the field for that to work, and the power players are at this moment rearranging the system so that midmajors like us do not get the chance to play top teams on a national stage. The old "BCS bowls" will go from at-large bids to major conference tie ins, and a selection committee will make sure that non-power conference teams get passed over for the playoff.

This mentality is whats wrong, we are mid-major because ACC and Big 2 little 8 say so? WRONG.

Relax...just look who is saying that (hoop only school fan)...who enjoys to BASH the conf at every turn.

He/she does it trying to get a rise out of fans like you.

Hold on now. As a St. Johns fan I can assure you JohnBragg is no Johnny. A Johnny come lately maybe but no redman.

Also, quit acting like the BBall schools hate the FB schools. We fully support the entire conference. The new schools need to stop spewing that espn garbage that we are divided. You haven't even entered the conference so you have no room to bash half the league.

Huh?

Not sure what my comment had to do with your above post...as my comment was related to a certain fan that continues to bash/call out the Big East Conf as "midmajor", something I have never done.

Maybe you got me and the poster mixed up and if that's the case, no worries.

It was in regard to you saying "just look who is saying it (a hoops only fan)". Half the league is hoops only.

I've seen a lot of posts from new members in regard to the problems of the league are from the hoops schools. A lot of new schools don't know the rich history of the league.

I call BS on this one. The SEC is a BCS conference.

The SEC membership are all tier 1 in academics. They're all flaghips or land grant "state U" schools except for one elite private school. All have large athletic budgets and large fanbases (except for maybe Vandy's fan base). Several of them have bigger football budgets than many other schools entire athletic budget. They fit my description perfectly so I'm not sure what your point is.

My point......we're all pretty much screwed here.

After Memphis joins the Big East, they'll have a bigger athletic budget than at least three or four SEC teams. Not to mention, the Tigers will be televised in more than a dozen of the largest television markets in the United States across four time zones.

I'd say we're doing pretty damn good.

Hey, he gets road trips to UT-San Antonio, Charlotte, Old Dominion, North Texas, LaTech, and FIU now. CUSA is doing just fine.

Really? I come on here to point out the real problems in the system and I'm attacked. I'm not pimping ECU, I'm not insulting the Big East, NOTHING like that happened in my posts. I'm not trying to compare CUSA vs Big East.

All I'm essentially saying is that "Power Conference" doesn't have anything to do with power on the field. It's all political power and a good old boy network. Frank the Tank agrees with me, all the realignment writers agree with me and the SEC, Big10, Big12, ACC and Pac12 agree with me. It's couldn't be more obvious. It doesn't matter how much a Big East OR CUSA team wins we're still going to get 01-rivals on at this point. At least you'll have a better TV deal.

It's easier to name call than have a civil discussion with a little ol' CUSA fan. Good luck Tigers.

RE: More ESPN propaganda
I will not be able to empathize with the so-called Big 5 "Power Conferences" efforts to subordinate the Big East as long as those conferences contain football programs like Duke, Indiana, Purdue, Minnesota, Colorado, Washington State, etc. that are clearly inferior to most Big East programs, and lose regularly to C-USA, MWC, and even MAC teams.

Such teams get from five times to over eight times the bowl distribution $ as my Houston did with a 13-1 record last season, staying home with pathetic losing records. I want to puke at those who defend that system, much less want to add to its inequity with further exclusionary tactics like we see right now.

Those on this board who encourage Big East supporters to be indignanant and outspoken at the greedy and unreasonable myths and attacks being perpetrated by ESPN and others for purely manipulative purposes are correct in doing so. That type of leadership is essential at this unique, commissioner-less juncture.

I wonder how many of them know that Memphis went out to LA and beat USC on their own field in 1991.

Y'know, nothing screams "Small Time" louder than bragging about a win 20 years ago over a big-time school, in a year when the big time school was terrible.

If USC were 8-3 that year, and you beat them on their field, then say something.

Their starting running back got injured in that game and he was out for the rest of the season. With him, their season turns out a lot differently.
