Have you ever posted good comments about Texas State?

I've probably posted as many good comments about Texas State as you have about UNT.

No offense to you 61 but buddy you have to admit that you go looking for it. I have never been on y'alls board but are there TXST fans posting negative comments over there?

Looking for it ? Get a grip. I expressed an opinion that Tech would easily beat Texas State. Opinions are allowed I beleive. That probably would have been my only post in the thread until some of your folks started posting about UNT. Then I just answered post that were aimed at UNT with factual info. If you've got a problem with that, so be it.

Sorry if that came off as offensive. Because you are one of the few UNT posters that I am familiar with over the past few years, I probably assumed a little much. It wasn't my intent. I agree with most of your comments and actually like UNT. Any school that works hard to improve like you guys have deserves to succeed. Because of that, I root for UNT and wish you guys the best.

I could be wrong but it is just human nature to expect the same.

There is plenty of evidence to dig up on multiple boards that shows MG61 likes to troll Texas State

As usual a UNT fan who has no idea about Texas State. You are just spouting off like some of your other green weenie friends. Texas State has just added 14,000 seats to Bobcat Stadium bringing the total to 30,000 capacity which includes the luxury suites. We have averaged over 15,100 in attendance in 2011 with a FCS schedule and a 15,200 capacity stadium. Our market has coverage between Austin and San Antonio with good cable potential and a large alumni association population (100,000) in the Austin -San Antonio metro areas.

We all have questionable posters. Just seems like regardless of topic, TXST gets bashed. It's ok to lie (embelish) about your own university but it's just wrong when talking about another school. Maybe we can get back on topic and just say that UNT's only win against Tech as an FCS school was when the Raiders were the first game of the season. Gives me hope.

I do hope that a lot of the fans of the fb newbies will stay the course and support their teams because most likely they are going to need it because wins will be few. Look at WKU which was a much better fc ball club than TS, it took them a while but now they have arrived. They are a success to be emulated, and it took them years; no TS is not close to NT or any other Belt football team at this time. FC teams can get fired up and give much better teams a good game or even occasionally beat them; but the problem is that intensity can not be maintained.

Just because, like Texas State, USA has had to hear a lot about how success will be elusive in FBS because of how tough WKU had it, I feel the need to respond to this. In 2006, WKU's last year with an FCS schedule, they were 6-5 and trending downward after their national title in 2002, largely because of a coaching change. Texas State was 6-6 last year and is trending upwards, largely because of a coaching change.

If any of the 'new' FBS teams beats a team from the AQ conferences, it would be a huge upset. With the exception of one game.. Indiana at UMass.

Texas State plays Texas Tech (at home). South Alabama plays at NC State and at Mississippi State. UMass hosts Indiana and plays at Uconn and Michigan. UTPA plays the weakest schedule in FBS (they play no one of any real consequence).

I don't see any of the newbies knocking off any of those teams. Tech is weak for the Big XII, but they have size and experience. Indiana did lose at a mediocre North Texas last year, but I think they'll handle UMass. Not hatin' just sayin'.

For South Alabama, a good season would be 3 wins next year. Any more than that would be unexpected. For Texas State, 4 wins is probably a good season. For UTSA, a winning record is a possibility, but that's only because their schedule is really weak (USA, Georgia State, Idaho, NM State, Rice, McNeese, NW Okla, and Rice are featured) but I still think that 5 wins would be a great outcome for them (but playing 3 FCS schools does not constitute a 'real' FBS schedule).

RE: Potential "Embarrassing" upsets
Tom,
You need to come on out to our first game vs UH. Then you can report on if we have made any progress or how we're looking as we start our journey into FBS.

Thing is, the title of the article is Potential Embarrassing losses. It doesn't sat it will happen but...
We realize it is our first year with 85 schollies and no where near the depth or talent that we'll have in future campaigns. We have 1 FBS caliber recruiting class, that are sophs, that have any PT. Our second class is coming in and many will redshirt. We have patchworked the team with JUCO transfers and some of the upper classmen could be on other schools' rosters, but not all.

That said, we are an optimistic bunch and, athough we realize we are in for a tough go the next few years, "we're still hoping for that last miracle, that last Hail Mary pass." (Jim Wacker)

Potential "Embarrassing" upsets
I have to side with 61 on this one. Did not see anything derogatory In his post. If he constantly posts negative about Texas State or not, this really was not one of them. I love sunshine and wins but this most likely will not be one of them. I hope and do believe anything is possible but in the realm of likelihood a win here is not really on the radar.

Doesn't mean we won't, just means it will be that much more awesome if we do.

I might just head out to Robertson for the game. But I do stand by my predictions. I hope that I''m wrong about Texas State (and my own team, South Alabama), but I'm just trying to be realistic.
