RE: Why does Louisiana Tech have a bigger budget than the Cajuns?
But Z when the truth is on your side it makes it fun and is interesting-----While you were gone we had some great budget discussions and the Cajuns looked very good in them thanks to our understanding of what was going on -----Our endowment is far and above the Techs and the Southerners!!!!

You implied or stated in one of your posts that there was an issue you were going to fight for with the legislature. That is why I asked you what cause you were fighting for. Otherwise, I don't understand your Churchill quotation.
If you are answering a question as you stated, you should have all the facts and be unbiased. You satisfied neither implied obligation.

I have NEVER implied nor EVER mentioned the legislature or anything before them that I would "fight" for. The only use of the word "legislataure" that I can EVER recall is when referring to the Louisiana Legislative Auditors (source for all my factual information on finances). If you have a post that you can reference then please refer me there and I will apologize. You really didnt answer my question as to the source of transferred funds if not from the general fund appropriation (state taxpayer dollars). It does NOT come from tuition because the TOPS program (taxpayer dollars) pay the tuition for most and inclusive athletic fees are therefore disallowed. You said he told you that 70% of the funds transfer to athletic is generated by the school thus ask him from which those funds are received. He should know if he is feels it is a 70% figure, couldnt make that statement without first hand knowledge could he.

---So this is interesting---What % of the supposedly 70% of the funds comes from the TOPS program---I doubt that MOST of the 70% is from TOPS but that is tax payer monies for sure as opposed to tuition payed by the student alone and any other self generated funds!!!!

I asked this question to the Tech fans the other day and this was the answer I got:
Direct Institutional Support: 7.2 Million (general fund transfer)
Indirect Institutional Support: 2 Million:
- Student tuition and fees
- Federal grants, contracts, and other federal revenues
- Local grants and contracts
- Non-governmental (private/corporate) grants and contracts
- Sales and services of educational departments
- Auxiliary enterprise revenues
- Gifts
- Investment income
- Other operating revenues
Self generated: 8 Million
That would add up to about 60% of funds from the school and 40% from the state.
