RICHMOND, Va. – Yoram Mwila, a rising senior on Virginia Commonwealth University's men's soccer team, passed away early Saturday morning from injuries he suffered in a car accident in Lusaka, Zambia. He was 21.

"As anyone in our athletic department could tell you, Yoram Mwila was an extraordinary young man," said VCU Head Men's Soccer Coach Dave Giffard. "Within our team and our VCU family he was a leader, an amazing friend and an example of what a positive attitude can do for a person and a group of people. His enthusiasm for life and for the game was infectious and I'm not sure he ever met a stranger.

RAM NATION REMEMBERS YORAM MWILA

RICHMOND, Va. – It's rare for any athlete to transcend their sport, particularly the collegiate student-athlete, but that's exactly what Yoram Mwila did during his time at VCU. On June 9, all of Ram Nation mourned his loss after he was tragic accident in his home country of Zambia.

The best way to share exactly the type of person Yoram was is to share the words of the student-athletes, coaches, administration and much more that make up Ram Nation.

Here are their words: (if you would like to add a story or thoughts about Yoram, please feel free to email Scott Day at sdday@vcu.edu)
