UNT AD Gets A New Contract & Pay Boost
UNT athletic director Rick Villarreal will receive a base salary of $275,000 with an annual $100,000 retention bonus and a $7,200 car allowance beginning on Sept. 1, 2013, under terms of his new contract that will run through Feb. 28, 2017.

Villarreal will receive a $250,000 base salary and a $50,000 retention bonus for the school year beginning on Sept. 1. His salary from March 1 to Aug. 31 will be $228,000, a prorated portion of his base pay.

The last of Villarreal’s three scheduled $100,000 bonuses during the term of the contract will be paid on Sept. 1, 2015.

The contract also includes performance incentives for both academic success and seasons in which UNT’s teams win conference titles or reach the postseason

Not trying to flame, but I dont recall seeing this anywhere.

Are UNT and FIU elligible for the SBC confrence titles this year? I know sometimes teams that depart are not allowed to claim those titles according to the confreces rules.

I think that was part of the ODU hold up for CUSA that they wanted to compete for the FCS playoffs this year and they wouldnt be allowed to if they left.

Why wouldn't FIU and UNT be eligible ? They are both full conference members until June 2013.

I thought they would be but I think some confences had stipulations that if a team was transitioning to a new league they could could not compete for confrence titles.

I could be wrong, I just recall seeing that and wasnt sure if the SBC had such a rule.

Im fine with both FIU and UNT competeing for it this year.
