I have always respected Charlotte but speaking of fans making that hard to continue..... ECU basketball has absolutely sucked and no one has cared about about it, we understand that but that is changing. And the EZU thing just makes you look like a state or carolina fan.... which I am sure you do not want, its really juvenile. And trying to run down ECU football?? We have been playing football for 80 years. Please do not try to talk **** about football to us, you haven't even played a down. I hope Charlotte does become good and top 25 (as long as ECU is beating you), be great for the conference and ECU for respect purposes. But until you are actually playing football it seems crazy to talk junk about another football team. With that being said you should be excited about your team, I would be, and I understand the enthusiasm.

OK, I'm sorry but are you an idiot? I have not said one damn negative thing about ECU football. In fact, the opposite is true. Try actually reading a post before commenting on it.

There are almost as many Division 1 football programs as basketball. UNCC is one of the last few remaining to even get a program. Take a school like Western Carolina. They may be classified as a D1aa because they can't afford D1 but they still have football just like basketball and we are certainly still better, so when we say we have a top 70 or better program basically every year for 40 years or currently top 40 attendance it's really no different than comparing D1 basketball. If anything it's impressive to be able to support a program and compete at the top level in football. Your basketball is no where near those levels and it's much harder in football as you will soon find out.

Ill take being about 70 ranking spot better for the year on average over a couple of Nov/early Dec wins any time. We beat 2 Dwade top 10 teams, didn't make us better that year. Nice story though.

SJ, seriously dude? You know damn well its not fair to compare programs with 85 schollies to ones with 63. Too much of a financial difference. No one considers FCS schools as D1 (for the purposes of this kind of discussion----clearly). You are too funny.01-wingedeagle

EDIT: Let me clear up a few things for you SJ,since you obviously are having trouble with this. After a quick search, I'm seeing 120 FBS football teams and 124 FCS as of 2010. EVEN IF I counted those all for this discussion as you want to, that still only comes to 244, but I'll bump it up to 250 for you to account for the new teams (even though some of us haven't even started yet). This compares to 347 D1 basketball teams as of 2010. Now (stay with me here), assuming ECU is 40th in attendance (I didn't even attempt to verify this----giving you guys the benefit of the doubt on that----IN ALL of "D1") that would put the Pirates in the top 20%. Pretty solid. Of course, if you only count the FBS teams (as 99% of people would) that would only rank ECU in ~the top 40%.

Now, Charlotte basketball has been inside the Top 90 (at worst----most years top 75-80). So, out of 347 teams, that would put us right on the edge of the top 25%. Pretty solid as well, I think.

As for comparing our basketball success to your football success------I will take that comparison all day long. Not because ECU's football is bad (its NOT) but because our bball history is pretty darn good. Richer than about 80% of the schools out there.

Where exactly did it say 919 you are running down ECU football? It referred to any Charlotte posters who have, and some have. Which is why I said, "I have always respected Charlotte but speaking of FANS making that hard to continue....." , unless you are the only UNCC fan on the board then I don't see anywhere linking you to particularly calling out ECU football.

Guess I need to start being more specific. The football part was more of a general overview.

03-lmfao There are the same number of schools nationally regardless. If Houston Baptist can't support a football program that only makes it more impressive to have a program at the level we have played for decades and we are still better than them for it. Dont kid yourself either all the big time schools have football at this level.

The fact is we have a sold out 50k seat stadium and that puts us in the top 40 of ALL schools in the TOUGHEST most expensive sport to compete and we are one of the few that averaged over 100% capacity last year. Our program certainly resembles a top 40 program in facilities and support and does well by comparison most every year. We are never 200+ nationally like your basketball has been multiple times recently.

You just said your basketball was 75-80th in support , The sad thing is our BASKETBALL program isn't much worse than 100th most years and on the court we have been better under our current coach than you guys. You aren't Memphis or Louisville like you try to pass yourself of as, your basketball program looks a hell of a lot more like ours today than it does theirs in every measurable way. Our football and BYU football are far and away the best supported "mid major" programs left out there. Your basketball probably isn't even in the top 10 and hell if it is ours isn't even that far behind. The reality is you are just a mid level mid major that has sucked for most of the last 5 years. That's what it is, not much different than we are in basketball today.
