Kent and Stony Brook both to college world series. Wow two huge upsets.

Kent is 1st MAC team to college WS since EMU in mid-70s.

Is that what I heard?

Kent shows they are the real deal, winning FIVE times in their last six games against teams in the top 15. Fully expect a competitive game against Baylor/Arkansas in their first appearance in the CWS.

C’mon. I’ve barely slept in three days, my heart rate is racing after every game in this series was determined in the ninth inning and now you say it’s going to be competitive?04-jawdrop04-jawdrop04-jawdrop

Congratulations to Kent State! Also, CAA hopeful Stony Brook advances too. Both are two huge upsets and I love that. Knock out the Gamecocks!

ps. Sorry for the shameless plug, but JMU went to the College World Series in 1983. They went 0-2 and were the first team eliminated haha. Still a feat they speak about to this day at our school's ballpark.

I don't really consider the Kent State win such a huge upset, I truly believed they were a much better team than the given credit for nationally. BTW, great pic of your stadium, I just drove by it last week and was really impressed with it. Sure does seem like a steep pitch on it.

Kent State's Golf (Men's) also got into the final round of 8 and finished tied for 5th overall.

Yes, 1976. EMU had two stellar pitchers who were 1st round MLB pitchers that year.

I believe EMU was national runner-up.

What's up with Akron fans never rooting for fellow MAC schools in post season and non-conference? I root for all the teams out of conference because what's good for MAC ultimately is good for Ohio. Noticed it a couple years ago after NCAA Georgetown win then again this past NCAA basketball tourney. Now again with Kent's run! I rooted for Akron in the NIT and even when it's soccer team won a national title. For goodness sakes I even happily root for Miami when they are out of conference. What gives Zips fans?03-nutkick
