RE: Phil Steel Pitt edition
I think he means Aaron Donald, not Aaron McDonald there in the 1st team Big East section and DT position.

Just fixed that. Might've been my mistake. I'm at work, busy as hell when I was putting this thread together.

Which 3 teams are supposed to be better than Pitt? I can see Louisville maybe (though not a lock, IMHO). Who else?

RE: Phil Steel Pitt edition
USF is probably one of them. Maybe Rutgers. USF is overrated every year out of the gate.

I suppose USF is plausible (still, they need to prove it to me).
Louisville is very believable.
Rutgers just lost their coach - I could see them falling
Pitt just upgraded their coach - I could see you guys improving dramatically
If Syracuse really finishes 7th, I'll begin to wonder about Marrone.

RE: Phil Steel Pitt edition
I agree with you, Hokie Mark.

I think that Strong is doing a good job at Louisville. He's got good talent and I think he's a fine coach. They are also committed to football there.

With USF I need to see it to believe it. I think Skip Holtz is a good coach but USF really always falters once the weather turns colder. I don't think it has anything to do with cold weather, either. They just don't perform down the stretch. They really need to prove it to me.

I wouldn't sleep on Cincinnati. They're almost never the most talented team in the league but they are adept at finding coaches who get the most out of the talent that they have on hand. Wannstedt's Pitt teams were leaps and bounds above Cincinnati in terms of talent level and yet always faltered against them when it mattered. Even without Kelly they're well coached, too. Jones seems to do a good job.

Syracuse should do better than 7th this year. I like Marrone and think he's got a good thing going there.

I can't understand why Rutgers is listed so high. They're the team I pick to underperform on the list.

Pitt is in the same camp as USF - prove it. I think being 4th is about right for us. It's hard to say how Chryst will do. Hopefully he will be the upgrade that we think he should be. We're going to be starting a lot of guys this year who aren't really seasoned and I think that's going to be a bit of a problem. QB is obviously a weakness. RB is obviously a strength. Hopefully we outperform the preseason predictions but it's hard to feel confident about that right now with so much uncertainty.
