What we lost will be replaced with mostly better talent and more experienced talent in the new defensive system.
The 2012 UL defense will be better than the 2011 one.
You're right about the offense though. Remember this. Green was a minor player in a lot of wins last season.
I just have one message for the rest of you on this board:
I agree the defense witll have good players, but the Troy game is the second game, and I suspect there will still be a growth time needed. I doubt Lamar tests it like OSU did last year.

ULM is stacked this year and is flying under the radar. Not saying will win the conference, but I think will be top 3 as Lindy's predicts.

I think I would take that list, except WKU over FIU, and ULM over Middle.
If Troy finds any running game at all, then all bets are off.
Im sure you do take that list!
I think UL has momentum, I really like UL and Id say they are my 2nd fav team in the belt.

DT/DE Jalen Fields, So (UGA 4 star commit) freak of nature
DT Cordian Hagans, SR (LSU)
LB/DE Delvin Jones, JR (Ole Miss) started as a True Frosh at Ole Miss
FS Tig Barksdale, RsSO (Ole Miss) plays like Ronnie Lott...the staff has to limit his hitting in practice.
FS/WR TJ Worthy, FR (Ole Miss) tremendous athlete with great football IQ, not sure what side of the ball he will end up on.
CB Javonte Watson, RsFR (Miss St) may be the best CB we have ever had.
Barksdale, Jones, Hagans, and Fields will more than likely start from day one. Watson and Worthy will be in on certain packages. Overall the defense improved dramatically, but will need a game or two to get up to speed at the FBS level. Good thing is the offense should carry us through until they get their feet wet.

I don't see South Alabama or FAU winning a game in SBC play besides the game they play against each other. North Texas will win atleast 4 conference games again. We will field a stronger team in 2012, one thing I've noticed is this is probably going to be the sun belts strongest year top to bottom. If FIU and WKU play up to potential, UL & ASU will win 6-8 games, UNT continues to improve, MT will bounce back(though I'm not sure a bowl season is in order) Troy will bounce back even if all the JUCO's they sign are busts thanks to the wide receivers coming back. ULM could make some noise with a favorable conference schedule, honestly I think this will be another season where it's a battle for 1st place every week. I really doubt anyone gets through SBC play 8-0 or even 7-1. I mean no disrespect to USA fans, but UNT will get to skip FIU to play USA at home and that is huge for us. Last year we went 4-4, all we would have to do is beat the teams we did last year plus USA to go 5-3 in conference and go 1-3 in OOC, giving us a 6-6 record. Troy will be the toughest game among the four and will be in bowl contention this year. I don't see any way we go bowling, but I still think we win atleast 5 games and wouldn't be surprised if we got 6. The talent on this team has improved, not only that but we actually have players that fit the bill physically. To say it was embarrassing to hear Mac call UNT "the most undersized FBS team I have ever seen" last season would be an understatement. I'm glad it's June, and we're only 2.5 months away, but seriously if I don't see some football soon I am going to lose it.

RE: Lindy's 2012 Sun Belt Picks
1st Tier
1) FIU
2) ASU
2nd Tier
3) UNT
4) ULL
5) WKU
6) Troy
7) ULM
8) MTSU
3rd Tier
9) FAU
10) USA
A Few Observations.....
Anyone could win the conference outside of FAU and USA....
the front runners IMO are Ark St. and FIU....
ULL WKU UNT Troy will be 2nd pack
NT and WKU will be rising this year with ULL and Troy falling. ULL is loosing alot and i dont think Troy is getting the same recruits they used to get.
NT will be a wildcard. we could finish anywhere from 1-6 IMO. Favorable schedule and 2nd yr under Coach Mac.
ULM and MTSU are also wildcards and can beat anybody but i dont think they can put it all together for a complete season.

I say without a doubt this will be the best season in league history. I think the OOC part is where we need to see how everyone does. I bet there are some wins that will turn some heads.

You got a lot of players from Ole Miss up there. These guys transferred out of the SEC for what reason? I sure hope it was not because they could not get enough PT, because LTU slaughtered them as well as most teams last year. In short just because a kid played at Ole Miss, or recruited by them does not mean a darned thing.
Their play this spring;however does point to them being excellant players compared to the other UL players so I do have high hope.

ULM is stacked every year, and flying under the radar every year. IMO ULM is not a stealth aircraft and will be shot out of the sky several times this season, finish in the middle of the pack at best.

I love how everyone forgets that WKU went 7-1 in the Belt last year and lost hardly anyone but Rainey.
Keep overlooking us. It's all good!

That is like the Cleveland Brows saying, 'we lost nobody except Jim Brown'. Man you clearly have no idea how valuable that guy was, he kept all the defenses honest to the nth degree.

I've been wondering this myself. WKU has a good football team.
The contenders: FIU, WKU.
The prove it again duo: Ark. St and ULL
The CBS team - Could Be Super or Could Be Shi%%#: Troy, geeze Louise I have no idea.
The Dennis Green bunch - The are who we thought they were and they are not contenders: UNT, ULM
The Bad News Bears (before adding Kelly Leak and Amanda): FAU, MTSU, and USA.

Mean Green and Ragin'Cajuns are tied 8-8. Looks like we settle this in Denton, probably won't play often in the future.

MT will better than you think, if it could go wrong for them last year, it did. UL, MT, Troy, WKU, Ark St will be pretty solid football teams this year. WKU should've beaten Kentucky last year and MT had Purdue I believe on the ropes.
Need to win more OOC games this year

Everyone should beat Kentucky. They come in at the bottom of the SEC teams on the Orlando Sentinental at 70.
ASU did beat Indiana Big Ten team, FIU did beat Louisiville Big East power. UL did beat a good SDSU now a Big East team.
I will not be surprised if the SBC gets some important upsets this season.
