Cool Akron soccer coach hired away
Head Coach Chris Pfau hired away by Houston.

Before he arrived, the team was averaging two wins a year and had never even been to the MAC tournament. He brought a struggling start-up program to respectability, and gets a Big East gig as a reward. Good luck to him.

Whoever is his replacement will be walking into a much better situation. I think we'll see interest from some top candidates.

Hope he is getting paid more. A "Big East" gig isn't an upgrade in and of itself anymore.

The Big East is and will be a formidable soccer conference. UCF, USF, Louisville are all very strong programs and it looks like Houston will be too.

Pfau looks like he's been sharing the training table with Terry Bowden.

Sorry if this is the "wrong" thread for this, but I know you're a soccer fan uakronkid, and that you seem to think JMU would also be a decent soccer addition to the MAC. I honestly don't know much about our men's and women's soccer teams, but I know our team was ranked this past year and got to the second round of the playoffs.... not 100% sure without looking it up.
Anyways, we have a soccer alum from JMU named CJ Sapong, he seems to be getting a lot of mention in the MLS for his efforts with Sporting Kansas City and he just got the MLS goal of the week last week. It was a nice goal and I think you'd like this.
