Jordan Mincy
Looks like we might be losing Jordan to the College of Charleston. I know they have offered him a significant raise over what he is currently making, but being a KSU alum, I think it's safe to assume he would rather stay a Golden Flash.

I don't think it would be necessary to match their offer, but I think it will take an effort to show Jordan that the University is committed to him and values his contributions.

If we lose Jordan, I will be disappointed. I think he is a great young man and one helluva recruiter with a bright future. Not to mention, he is a KSU man. I also hate losing the Memphis connection. I have always contended that I trust JN and TK and this decision won't change things, but I would love to see them find the necessary funds to keep Jordan at KSU.

If does leave, I hope Earvin Morris doesn't follow him. Solid recruit I would love to see playing here in 2 seasons.

Once again bitten by the no-cash bug! This is a huge loss for the basketball program but we must move on. GL to Jordan, you will be missed.....

RE: Jordan Mincy
Just so everyone knows and has a little bit of information here and doesn't pound on JN too much, I will reveal a few tidbits. First, let me say, I am terribly disappointed to be losing Jordan who is a KSU man and more importantly, my friend. He is a great young coach and will continue to be very successful. This loss was coming even if it wasn't this year. I know for a fact that Memphis has had talks with him and we would never be able to afford him if they wanted him. Secondly, I think you should all know that when Jim Christian got the OU job, the first call he made was to Eric Haut. They offered him more money than he was making here and JN found a way to get him enough money to stay. I don't pretend to know the athletic dept. and their budget and where every nickel is spent, so I cannot exactly crush JN for not coming up with enough money to keep Jordan. I know what he was making, I know what he got from C of C, and I know what KSU did to try to keep him. What's done is done. Now I can only hope that Sendy has someone great in his back pocket to offer the job.

In my opinion, we should never lose coaches to other mid majors, unless it’s a perennial top tier mid major. To Danny’s point, a top flight program like Memphis not only offers more money, but better competition and development. The bonus is that it’s home for Jordan. So, I’d get the appeal of Memphis, but College of Charleston? Really?

Am particularly annoyed that this is the second time it’s happened. We lost Armon Gates to Loyola of Chicago- a perennial basement dweller in the Horizon.

Just think we should not be losing coaches, any coaches, to other mid majors. IMHO, it’s inexcusable.

The other thing you have to consider is that mid-majors (maybe even BCS teams) slot their assistant coaches as the lead assistant, #2, and #3. That slot is usually also associated to your pay grade. Jordan moved up from the #3 assistant at KSU to the #2 at C of C and that should include a pay raise.

Also, we lost Armon when he went to TCU with Christian. Then he left TCU for Loyola when it became evident Jim wouldn't be there much longer.

RE: Jordan Mincy
This one really bothers me.

I'll be very interested to see what direction we go for his replacement. Losing Armon lost us Chicago now Mincy likely loses us Memphis (and possibly Morris). Sendy's ties to NYC will become more valuable now.

Danny is right on this one. There are two things in play with assistants. One is money but the other is a promotion. The goal is a head coaching position and just like business few will turn one down even for equal money. No assistant is worth breaking the bank for. I know everyone likes Mincy but he still is only 25 with minimal experience. He might go on to be a great head coach but it's far from a sure thing.

This 1 definitely hurts. The question becomes, is Steinburg more important than Mincy? Anyone know of or hear of possible replacements for Mincy? Haut/Steinburg need to step up and improve their recruiting.

RE: Jordan Mincy
Anyone remember what Christian and Ford's salaries were? Senderoff's is $200k/yr, right? I wonder what the asst coaches salaries were under Christian vs Ford vs Senderoff?

Here is are the links to each coaching staff in the MAC, you decide who has the best coaching staff and where KSU sits now that Mincy is gone:

Akron: http://www.gozips.com/sports/mbkb/coaches/coachesindex
Ohio U: http://www.ohiobobcats.com/sports/m-bask...ml#coaches
Buffalo: http://www.buffalobulls.com/sports/mbkb/coaches/index
Miami U: http://www.muredhawks.com/sports/m-baskb...l-mtt.html
BG: http://www.muredhawks.com/sports/m-baskb...l-mtt.html
Toledo: http://www.muredhawks.com/sports/m-baskb...l-mtt.html
CMU: http://www.cmuchippewas.com/ViewArticle....M_ID=10500

EMU: http://emueagles.com/roster.aspx?path=mbball&
WMU: http://www.wmubroncos.com/SportSelect.db...PSID=24352
Ball State: http://ballstatesports.com/SportSelect.d...EASON=2011
NIU: http://www.niuhuskies.com/sports/m-baskb...ml#coaches

My vote is for Buffalo Bulls, longest tenure, the best player in their programs history along with 2 coaching veterans, 1 a former KSU asst/Rutgers asst under Gary Waters.

Jordan should try to get some different experiences while he is young. If his aspires to be a head coach, working as an assistant on a few teams seems to be a requirement. There are at least 5 ex-Kent assistants that are D1 head coaches now (Waters, Christian, Ford, Senderoff and Murphy). With further success, who's to say that a Jordan Mincy doesn't return to Kent as a top assistant or a head coach later?

Best to Jordan.

Interestingly enough Kent does not like to hire from their recent graduates in certain areas until they have experiences working elsewhere for that very reason. They want you to get some other input so that they don't just foster the same blind spots.
