09/15/12 vs. Campbell Norfolk, Va. - Foreman Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium TBA WIN
09/22/12 vs. New Hampshire * Norfolk, Va. - Foreman Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium TBA WIN, surprisingly easy
09/29/12 at Richmond * Richmond, Va. - Robins Stadium TBA WIN, barely
10/13/12 vs. Villanova * Norfolk, Va. - Foreman Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium TBA WIN, blowout
10/20/12 at Towson * Towson, Md. - Unitas Stadium TBA LOSS another heartbreaker
10/27/12 vs. Delaware * Norfolk, Va. - Foreman Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium TBA WIN
11/03/12 at Georgia State * Atlanta, Ga. - Georgia Dome TBA WIN
11/10/12 vs. William & Mary * Norfolk, Va. - Foreman Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium TBA WIN

Agree for the most part. W&M, Delaware, JMU and Towson = coin flip to me. Adv to us at home vs Delaware.

09/01/12 vs. Duquesne Norfolk, Va. - WIN
09/08/12 at Hampton Hampton, Va. - WIN

09/15/12 vs. Campbell Norfolk, Va. - WIN
09/22/12 vs. New Hampshire * Norfolk, Va. - returns entire OL and secondary. DL unknown, depends on our defense vs their OL-win
09/29/12 at Richmond * Richmond, Va. Loss of fine QB returns 14 starters unknown coaching- easy win
10/13/12 vs. Villanova * Norfolk, Va. - very young team showed steady improvement last season, returns 22 starters excellent coaching.- could go either way but we take them lightly - loss
10/20/12 at Towson * Towson, Md. - returns 19 starters from a very good team. Home field advantage - loss
10/27/12 vs. Delaware * Norfolk, Va. - home advantage WIN
11/03/12 at Georgia State * Atlanta, Ga. WIN
11/10/12 vs. William & Mary * Norfolk, Va. - running game (great scheme) will be excellent. depends on our D and their QB home field win. close WIN
11/17/12 at James Madison * - this game will be decided by their QB. Unlike with W&M, we match up well with their running style. If they have QB issues again we win - win

9-2

That Nova game could be a sleeper if the team is looking ahead to revenge on Towson.

That's excitingly surprising for the CUSA programs. 6-6 would be a fantastic showing first year in the league.

edit: and I was trying to find that NSR predictor last season thanks for posting that link with results.

I'll take 9-2 all day.

But sure would love to stomp these fools and go 11-0. Take the CAA crown and roll out on top.

Would be BEAUTIFUL.

RE: Football Record - Game by Game
The prediction results are interesting. I think the two away games w/ JMU and Towson should be are toughest games but if our defense is tougher this year and offense stays on track very winnable.

With the C-USA match ups, you've got to figure we'll be playing in the eastern division where we're gauranteed match ups with USM, ECU Marshall, FIU, UNCC and UAB. Of those I would hope we would beat UAB and Charlotte (though who knows how they'll come out), we could beat FIU and Marshall, and we'll be hard pressed to beat USM and ECU. All of this is in our first years in the conference. Then, as I understand it we'll play 2 cross division teams a year. If we draw La Tech and Tulsa or North Texas, Those first years could be brutal.

Hopefully we'll draw some easier cross divisional games and schedule some easier OOC games to keep moral up.

RE: Football Record - Game by Game
There is no way this team loses to Towson this year. We lost to them last year on a fluke with the #104 ranked defense out of 117. Our defense will be better. We beat Towson by 17 points this year.

I also think there is no way we lose to JMU. As UP as the pukes will be for this game, so will ODU. Our potential last game against them for the foreseeable future. No way will we not take the field like this game is anything but a championship. Personally, I think JMU will be too AMPED UP for this game.

JMU has serious QB issues going into the season. They ran on a weak defense last year. We will be better on that side of the ball.

Everyone points to how young Towson or 'Nova were last year. Look at our roster. Look at how many true and redshirt freshmen played significant minutes last year. We too will be more experienced then we were last year. The starters we lost on the DL were at one of our deepest areas, talent wise, outside of WR. Also, Heinicke was only in his 2nd ever start against Towson and 3rd against 'Nova.

I say we go 11-0. We won't "Take the crown" because we are ineligible for the CAA auto-bid. But we will be the true champions.

Agreed. These predictors can only make projections from past results. There is no way that our defense will be as bad as last year. Our offense should be at least as good, probably better.

You can probably go thru all these predictor scores and deduct at least a touchdown from every opponent that we face. I think we will be that much improved on defense.

If that is true, then an undefeated season is not out of the question.

I honestly can't wait to see what our transitional schedule is going to look like and if we are going to play any CUSA teams during it.

Game 1: Duquesne @ Old Dominion (1-0) - Easy win to start the season
Game 2: Old Dominion @ Hampton (2-0) - Win but might be a 10 point or less game. Hampton gave the defense issues last year
Game 3: Campbell @ Old Dominion (3-0) - Another easy win
Game 4: New Hampshire @ Old Dominion (4-0) - At home give the win to ODU
Game 5: Old Dominion @ Richmond (5-0) - Another win over a VA school, that would only leave VT and UVA on the hit list.
Game 6: Villanova @ Old Dominion (6-0) - First three quarters could be tight but ODU pulls away in the 4th.
Game 7: Old Dominion @ Towson (7 -0) - ODU by 14 to make up for 4th and forever
Game 8: Delaware @ Old Dominion (8-0) - I would say ODU by a field goal but I'm not sure who the kicker is this year. Did our All-World kicker graduate?
Game 9: Old Dominion @ Georgia St. (9-0) - ODU wins again in the empty GA Dome
Game10: William & Mary, Old Dominion (10-0) - With this win, ODU all but secures a home game possible bye in the playoffs
Game11: Old Dominion @ James Madison (10-1) - The Dukes will just be so jacked for this game. But I wouldn't be surprised if ODU wins big because of it.

Me too. I would think we would try to schedule some of the eastern teams if they've got room on thier schedule. I think Charlotte's already on the '13 schedule.

Our "all world" punter, Jonathan Plisco is back. Our FG kicker, Jarod Brown is pretty good too.

The W&M game will be the defining test for our defense. While UD and JMU are very good running teams, they run straight at you. Our D-line was, and should be, up to that task.

W&M runs a pro set with alot of misdirection. Grimes was very good, but alot of his success was due to the scheme. They will be just as good with McBride this year. Misdirection is the keystone of the triple option run by GaSo (and Cal Poly) as well.

The William and Mary game should tell us how much our defense has improved it's primary weakness, and give us an idea how far we can go in the playoiffs.

The difference being even when we got the coverage right Grimes would get 4-5 yards before being brought down.
